Texas

Good morning Texas! It is a lovely day up in the north section of the state. The leaves are starting to get really pretty around here. I need to get out with my camera.

Have you seen what is coming?!? BRRRRRRR!!!!!!! Not looking forward to the weekend. I must say I am not surprised. In fact I was expecting it. My mom is coming down from MN for Thanksgiving and she always brings terrible weather with her. She needs to come in the summer so we can have relief from the heat!!

Lots to do today. Working two jobs and other things to do. I really need to take some time off work but I can't afford to do that right now.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Sadly we lost three of our babies this week to a possum. Last night we caught and dispatched the killer.

Now to fortifying the coop further.

BTW possums do eat the head. At least two of ours were missing and no where to be found.

Congratulation, Mom !

For me , my partner and I still setting trap but had not caught anything in the last 2 mos.

So sorry for your loss. Possum Stew anyone??

Lisa :)
When I was in Lousisana, I had a chance to taste one ... pretty good. When visiting Vietnam, I ate Rat BBQ in the restaurant, excellent, tasted just like roatsed pigeon.

Dear Lisa, I will bring the beer.

I am building my coop with hardware cloth to keep things like that out. My big run will be made out of chicken wire. As the guy at the feed store says "everything likes chicken".

Glad you caught the bugger.

Okay, I believe I could try Possum Stew. BBQ Rat is another story. You have to bring tea.

Lisa :)

This week I have audit going on at work now. Then next week I have another audit on Mon-Tues. I can't wait till wed next week... I will be free after that.. This is when the fun begins. First I will be in Houston for the Thanksgiving, celebrating my mom's 90th b-day. Then at end of Dec.... a long trip to Vietnam to wed my wife and kiss my upcoming Charlie.

Hurry up... next week Wednesday ... pleeze

PS: Oops, it will be a cold wet weekend coming up... are ya'll ready? Time to move the chicks in-house

Chicken wire will keep chickens in but will not keep predators out. Even small predators like possums, raccoons, and small dogs can rip apart such flimsy wire. Heavy gauge woven or welded wire is a better option. We use it along with 4 ft tall chicken wire on the inside bottom of the runs - the chicken wire helps to keep small chicks in as well as keeping most of a mature chicken's head inside the run instead of sticking it out for a something to bite/pull off.
