The new tractor Is supposed to be here tomorrow or Tuesday....

I have sooooo many plans for the tractor and my husband. The husband isn't real thrilled, but oh well, he is the one that said he "needed" a tractor.

My husband would be drooling over any equipment coming in!

Lisa :)

I going camping with the Boy Scouts tonight. I don't think I will get to sleep in.

Nothing is wrong with camping .... right in your backyard. You can still have campfire... maybe near the fireplace, and ya'll can always sneak inside the livingroom for tonight basketball games.

I actually don't mind the cold. I did a lot of winter camping growing up in Northern Utah. Its the Scouts that I am worried about.

Nice tractor. My husband always rents what he needs so he doesn't have to maintain and store it. His toys are smaller.

Stormy night. We got 289/100's inches of rain. Much needed in our area. The light show was awesome. Now to plug everything back in and pick up things that got blown over.
We got a 1/2 inch of needed rain. It has been a fairly wet this fall but the lakes are still very low.
My favorite bread site is thefreshloaf.com

It's like the BYC board for bread!
Oh my! I am going to have some fun there. My grandpa was from Norway and he was a baker by trade. I have baking genes. :)

Nice tractor. I would like a riding mower, but right now it isn't a need. What I do need is a rototiller. They are pricey!

I could use some advice. Yesterday, we acquired three peeps (two barred rocks and one easter egger) who are about 3 weeks old. A friend had purchased them at the local feed store, and after two weeks was told by her landlord that she could not have chickens. Right now we have them in an outdoor coop, and they're as happy as clams. But the outdoor temperature is still in the 60s and 70s. We can bring them into the garage when the cold front hits tomorrow night.

But in early December we're going out of town for several days. By then the peeps will be about 4 1/2 weeks old, probably too young to be left in an outdoor coop. Our other chickens are all adults and cold hardy. But suspect that these peeps will still be too young to be outside when the temp gets into the 30s and 40s.

We had the freezing rain start in the middle of the night. It may remain at or below freezing all through the weekend. I opened my coop but none of the birds have wanted to go out and I can't blame them. ;-) Filled and hung the feeder and waterer in the coop and they pounced on those.

I have 4 one-week-old chicks in the coop. If the 3 silkies who are co-mothering can't keep 4 chicks warm in a coop with 8" of litter then I'll be out $3, oh well. I'm expecting them to all be fine, after all chickens have been living wild out in the open long before humans started shutting them up into coops.
