Texas

I made these for my sisters this year and I put handmade soap in each one. I bought the soap on etsy, but I am going to learn how to make my own cold pressed soap soon.

I bought one of the books at an antique store and was given 2 more. It kills me to cut up a book so I tried to find books that weren't anything special. Just inexpensive. :) [I found the complete set of Sherlock Holmes stories published in 1960 and bought that one to give to my son to read. HE loves to read. :)]

I am making these from the book pages now. I need to get my glue gun back from Trevor. He borrowed it for a school project and still has it. Maybe I will just pick up a new one.....
Those boxes were cute.

I am a soap maker and I started out with CP soap, but I get impatient! It's been a while but I mostly make hot process which can be used right away although I tend to let it sit for a couple of weeks to harden AND some scents start off really bad, but after a couple of weeks mellow and are very nice. I had one scent that would turn the soap a greenish poo brown, but would eventually turn to a beautiful cocoa brown after two weeks. Chemical reactions are weird.

Welcome Backyardlukker...although your BYC name kinda creeps me out.

I have pictures of most of my setup and some of my birds on my account profile on this site. Just click my name to see it. Don't look at the pictures of the breeds album. Those are not pictures of my actual birds, just the breed types. The pictures of the chicken coop album are mine.

Yes Tammy...........

Hey, I have a question. When the cold blew in, all my birds started coughing and hacking. Some birds took it differently. Some birds had a hard time breathing and some didn't, but the ones that didn't, had eye discharge and didn't want to eat or drink. I gave them tetracycline to help them out in warm water, and after a couple of days they were all fine. Most of them got over it on their own. I've got one young 3 month old silver-laced wyandotte pullet that two huge swollen eyes, and cannot see to eat or drink. The only thing I can do is hold her and dip her to get her to drink. How do I get her to eat? And what do I give her to make her eyes unswell so she can see to eat? I have her vetrx thinking she had eye worms, but it only made it worse.

No I'm grand new. But there is someone who helped me when I had a sick chicken. Tammy is pretty helpful as we'll but if you will go to the section "emergencies and diseases" start a thread that says something like "HELP, SWOLLEN EYES AND CANT EAT" pretty quick someone will answer you.
