You could probably arrange to have the bird sent to A&M for necropsy.hensfortherapy, I called that vet that you referred me to. His secretary said he would call me back and took my number. He never called, and I called around today. We have no avian vets here in the Waco area. I am doomed. I researched necropsies all day, and I even cut open the bird that died on me. That bird was so clean and spotless on the inside that I will never know what the hell killed her. There were no spots on the liver and no mucus or blood spots in the trachea. That bird was clean as a whistle. She did look dehydrated though. The bird had no food in her crop. I think she died from not eating, and I still don't know what made her face swell up.
I'm sorry!! I lead you to that-I know that the people there are not vets, but people who have lots more experience than I do...when my hen had some problem (crop or otherwise) I got some good advice and help although I was such a newbie that everything that was suggested was overwhelming. A more experienced chicken person might have been able to save her. And I have no bird vet within 2 hours of me. Well next time you will know!I made a mistake posting on the disease forum. They automatically assume the worst and are trying to doom my whole flock with CRD. My birds don't have CRD. My birds did, but don't know, had common symptoms to every disease involving breathing. So how they came up with CRD boggles my mind.
