Texas

Definately feels like a Friday!....

Got stuff for my brooder last night and checking out that feed store on lunch, since its a block from my work lol
Can you tell im excited??? Eeeek! Chicks this weekend!

Welcome from the Dallas area!

Just found out the feed store down the road has chicks for sale. I'm pretty excited too!! Working extra hard on our chicken area, gotta finish it before Saturday.

Hi Henless,
We hit 17 degrees as well, I'm in Tyler County, where are you? I'm so grateful we're warming up. C'mon Spring!!!
The temp may be warmer, but the dampness is a pain! I live out in the country in the Tyler/Longview area. I live in Rusk Co, 20 miles from anywhere! lol

I'm hoping to do some more work on my coop this weekend. We put wire up on one of the walls, and bought some more supplies to finish the solid walls. Need to work on the nests and start on my brooder so that I can get my chicks soon.

On a good note, my yard egg supplier starting getting eggs again. So glad I don't have to eat store eggs!!

Hello all. I'm located in Waco (Central Texas) smack dab in the middle of Dallas and Austin on I-35. I'm new to this board as well as new to raising chickens. Will be doing a chicken tractor with 4-6 birds. Look forward to talking to y'all!

Hey from Liberty Hill. Welcome. I started out with a chicken tractor. At the time we did not have a fence. I built the girls a larger space to graze with welded wire. It worked wonderfully.

I got my feeder, waterer, and some feed! I might post a picture though...i asked for unmedicated chick starter and he measured me some out..but its not in a normal bag so..i want to be aure its not just layer feed. Cause it was SUPER cheap. Is that normal? Lol

Small space, only 4 chicks.........:gig

You must have some strong will power!  I would recommend you not get on this thread anymore - if you stay on this thread, the enablers will have you building a condo for at least 20 chickens if you aren't careful - LOL.;)

I completely agree. We got 4 chicks and want more but quarantining seems like a lot of complicated work! Build bigger and prepare for more or run now lol ;)

Collin County Feed has chick feed that is good for all stages of growth, right up to the point you switch to adult feed. Is that what you got?
I have done a kazillion trips halfway around the world. Going east to west is the easiest--just make sure you get up at the normal time and get as much sunlight as you can. Sunlight is the cure for jet lag. I never had any trouble with jet lag traveling west. The other way can be problematic.
Finding the sun around here the past few days has been hard. It was so foggy today I swear I was in Superior WI. You couldn't even see the tops of the water towers.

Good morning!  A north TX welcome to all the new people.  :)

Cold and damp followed by rain.  Bet there are some unhappy chickens out there.  I'm an unhappy camper right now.  I can't stand this damp cold.  In Minnesota we had dry cold.  Much better - doesn't chill you to the bone.  Although -25* will make you cold no matter what! Glad I am here. :)

I'm working on getting a new roof.  I have hail damage.  Adjuster is coming on Monday....

It feels like it should be Friday, doesn't it?

When did it hail??
