Whatnot is becoming one of my favorites. I think because she is currently at the bottom of the pecking order. She is 26 weeks old and getting larger than the older girls so I bet she moves up soon.

Is she a barred rock? Shes pretty..

How exciting!  Make sure to take pictures of your babies!

Lisa :)

Oh, I'll make you guys sick of pictures ;)
Lol, joking. But yes, I will take PLENTY

Top picture is Dora. She had to stay in the rabbit cage until we got the brooding room set up. Dora's sisters enjoying their first taste of freedom from the feed store. It's currently 84* and sunny here in the deep southern tip of Texas.

It's a beautiful sunny day here. I should have gone for a bike ride. I did not feel like riding my bike though. I cleaned the house and got my chairs painted. I had to take advantage of the light winds. Tomorrow we will have a nice again but with high winds. I should get a wind turbine. I think it would pay for itself in no time.

Anyway, here are my chairs. Spray painting is not something I excel at, but they look ok. :)

Well I am back into chickens again and think I finally found the breed I am happiest with. The stags that I kept are Cubalaya's from Jungleexplore (Vaughn). I had to place the third stag in another home, that same weekend I got a group of 5 Cubalaya pullets that had just reached POL. They are from Ideal hatchery and not the best quality, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE their personalities. Everyone is so calm. Here is my clan

This was one of the three musketeers that I had to re-home, he is much happier and so are we

Here are the two stags I kept along with their new girls

Isn't he so pretty??? My camera does not do him justice. Their feathers are so shiny they look wet. I can kind of see it better in the picture above.

My Whatnot is a Barred Rock as far as I know. I say that because I got her from the same place I got two chicks that were suppose to be Wyandottes.I wasn't being too picky when I bought them because I wanted chicks for Scrambled to brood cause she had just set a nest of "fertilized eggs" that did not hatch. She sat that nest for over 21 days, then she left it, jumped up on the perch in the chicken yard and appeared to shout "I am done, those #*? eggs aren't hatching. When I was looking at chicken breeds on BYC I realize they look more like Welsummers, except they lay large white eggs.

I am thinking they are some sort of mix and the country store guys didn't know the difference.

Hey, everyone! I have an update on my New Year's chick! Well, it definitely looks like a boy. I was told he looks a bit like an Easter Egger, but I'm just gonna let nature take it's course and we'll see if he is or not. Personally, I don't think he is because he looks like none of my other EEs and they were all gotten from the same feed store. Oh well! Here's a picture of him the day I got him (on New Year's Eve): And here he is only a week and a half later! He's huge! Over the past 2 weeks, he's gained loads of weight (he was pretty thin and bony when I got him) and he's pretty good about not being terrified of me. I think solitude has made him realize that I'm the one who feeds him. He's curious and jumps out of his box sometimes, but he mostly just waits for me to take him out so he can perch on my finger or climb my legs. He's pretty cute. I'm thinking I'll keep him in the flock when he's big enough. I need some new blood anyway. Our young roosters that we hatched last year are starting to mate and crow, so I'm going to be weeding out the ones I really don't want soon. Even if this little guy isn't big enough to mate for several months, it'll be good to have a little variety in the flock. I just wish I knew what he was, haha! He's mighty pretty and his feet are huge, so I keep thinking he's a larger breed. Anyone got any clue as to what he might be?
Is this the snake charmer?
