Texas

I'm going to the Fort Worth stock show. Saturday is their poultry show. I've got to get both my girls back on full mend before I add any others, or I'd be in big trouble wanting to bring some home.

My hen juliette still doesn't want to walk. Her tail is also droopy, but I found no wounds nor did I feel anything like a bound egg. I fear she may have a bruise to her spine. She will stand, but limps when walking. This is all after the dog attack, so I don't think it's mareks. Murphy is fully recovered and doing well. Both are eating and drinking well.

Should I give Juliette some cat food? Or scrambled egg? They've been given cottage cheese and meal worms as extras along with greens, a few shelled sunflower seeds and their laying pellets.

Should I try some aspirin or pain reliever for her?

I will be going to the poultry show here in fort worth but on Sunday.

Anyone going to the poultry shows this spring?

I think there are three in March--South Central Texas Classic, March 1, in La Grange; Fancy Feathers Open Show, March 15, Dripping Springs; South Texas State Fair, March 29, and I haven't a clue where that show is, but it must be driving distance for me.

I decided that I am going to exhibit some birds.  I'm hoping to meet some of you so I won't feel quite so lost.

Anyone going?

I checked on the Fancy Feathers show March 15. I know exactly where it is, but their website doesn't have a time listed. When you know if you are showing at this show, would you post the times. I will check back on their website too.

I had a chance to play around in the dirt today (I was digging up worms!). While I was at it, I figured I'd set up a new nesting area for our ducks. Well, while doing so, I sifted my fingers through the dirt in the coop floor and it felt amazing. I dug a couple inches down and most of the hay and manure that was there before had broken down into the lightest, most lovely soil ever!

The soil in the garden plot is just as wonderful, though it needs just a bit of tending due to the weeds. However, once it's cleaned up, I'll be able to start my first ever garden. I'm so excited!

I love when my hens squat in front of me. I think they think of me as their rooster. They love to have their saddles scratched. I was so surprised when Princess did it today. She is such a drama queen. She has just started laying. I hope that calms her down. I am use to the gentle murmuring of my Buff Orpingtons and then along came Princess with her screeching noises. I think she gets on the other hen's nerves. She is pretty though and her little pullet eggs are so cute.

No problem. I know I'm definitely going if my birds pass the health test, which I suspect they should. They have to have official documentation to be free of a bunch of diseases. I'm going to call this week and make an appointment with the guy who does the testing.

Good morning! It's a chilly day right now but will warm up nicely. :)

The roofers have been at work for about an hour now. They said they will be done today with the house. Garage should be as well.

My kitties and dog don't quite know what to make of all the noise from above them. I imagine that will get worse when they start putting the new singles on.

What is up with the weather?! I just looked at the forecast for the week. Most depressing after today.
