We got snow

maybe 1/8th inch but hey it is still snow. Our school district is closed down so I get to work from home today

It always cracks me up when TX schools have a snow day for just some powdered sugar topping of snow. If it is going to be cold - particularly after Christmas is over with - there should at least be some snow to make it pretty enough to tolerate the cold.

RachaelS, it is a snow day, no working allowed. You get the day off! Go build a micro snowman. Or better yet, a snow chicken!

The power sugar toping like snow isn't why school is canceled. It is the layer of ICE that is underneath it. I grew up in the Rocky Mountains and am no stranger to 6 foot snow drifts, but ice sheets are a totally different thing. On the Texas Country road where I live now they don't have snow truck to spread salt like they did where I grew up. So, it is best to wait a few hours until we are up to spring time temperatures again than to leave early in the morning only to slide through intersections, slide off the road, or slide into stationary objects.

Thanks to my neighbor dripping fawcet, I have a thin ice on my drive way this morning. I slept till 8, had my tv dinner and will soon drive 55 mile trip to work... just to prove we have superman in VN too. They will hate me at work since.. if Hung makes it, no one else can excuse.. (fyi, I live furthest)

We had snow in east Texas and the chickens don't seem to mind it at all.

No snow here, just bitter cold, if its going to be this cold I expect something fun to play in!!! Im not real thrilled with a lady I bought eggs from though, she waited a day to ship even though she stated she would ship the day of purchase and now my eggs sat in the cold all night at the po.
