Speaking of coops...lol
I'm so overwhelmed I don't even know where to begin!!

I start looking at the ones on here and they seem SOOO complicated.
I've got less than a month to plan, and then it will have to come together fast!

Have a look on My Pet Chicken. Sam's has them too. I think Tractor Supply as well. I look at photos on Houzz.com too. I would think that building from a photo could be easy. I'm not gifted that way, so I am not sure.

Ha!, I doubt it will be "finished", but it should have 4 walls, a roof, and a door. My chicks will be 3 weeks on Sunday so I should have atleast another 2 to 3 weeks to get entirely finished.

Now, the big question....metal roof or shingled roof? I'd like to add gutters to collect the run-off into a rain barrel so I'm thinking metal but will it be too hot?

Ha!, I doubt it will be "finished", but it should have 4 walls, a roof, and a door. My chicks will be 3 weeks on Sunday so I should have atleast another 2 to 3 weeks to get entirely finished.

Everyone of our coops have metal roofs but we put plywood down 1st, we also have so many huge pecan trees in our yard that all the coops get shade at some point in the day

My feed store has Australorps, Giant Jerseys, Silver Laced, Barred Rocks, etc.  I turned around and walked away VERY fast.  I think my DH would say 'yes' if they had little engines attached to them!

Keep it simple. My coop is a shed style building, 10 x 12, raised off the ground, 4 walls and tin roof with open eaves, chicken wire stapled to rafters and pulley style windows that I can close in winter and keep open the rest of the year. I have had no problems from predators getting in the coop but I have 2 dogs who protect my property and the predator would have to scale a slick wall in order to tear into the chicken wire.

I guess I see all these coops and people building foundations, framing windows, adding insulation..
I pretty capable but it just seems like there's so much more thought to put into it.
I'm not looking for anything crazy..we rent and will hopefully buy in a few years, so I don't want anything too permanent...
Nothing I look at buying has a decent sized run. I guess I could buy a coop and build the run myself?
