I made my poncho tonight. :)
The lighting isn't very good in my room.... The bikes are a creamy white on brown fleece and the underside is a light pink. I did a braided edge on the bottom and a blanket 'stitch' on the neck.

It's beautiful! What a lovely pattern. Where did you get that fabric?

I recently bought (and paid too much) for a beautiful alpaca wool poncho. It was pricey and such an extravagant purchase, but I can see myself using it all the time. This past week, I wore it everywhere I went. I even used it outside and pretended the long flaps in the front were wings. I wanted the chickens to stay off the patio, so I scared them and they scattered, haha! It's really good for inside the house because my Dad has a bad habit of leaving the fans on in every room.

I did so much baking yesterday! Before going over to my grandma's house to watch over her, I had promised to bake 2 dozen red velvet cupcakes for Mom. Well, Mom surprised me by asking for me to make 2 dozen cupcakes for someone else, too.

So I made about 5 dozen cupcakes in total, as well as a homemade cream cheese frosting that wasn't too sweet but tasted deliciously of cream cheese. Mmm!

Because I was using our freshly laid eggs (I haven't been eating eggs lately, even though the hens have been laying for a couple weeks), I decided it was the perfect time to blow out loads of eggs for painting projects. Look at all the cool shapes!

I already have plans for the cool long egg on the right. Only one of my hens lays eggs in that shape (she doesn't lay eggs often, though

). Some of the eggs are short and stout, others are pointed and couple of the brown eggs have lovely little speckles. They are just so darn cute that I can't wait to start planning out eggs!

So yeah, I blew out 13 eggs in one day for all the baking, haha!

Ooh, a question! Does anyone ever notice whether or not the number of roosters in a flock affects egg production? I have 4 more roosters than necessary. One is already on hold for someone who wants to buy him, but the other three are sitting in a separate coop until they can be sold. Naked Necks don't sell very well, despite the need for heat-tolerant birds with plenty of meat.

I feed the flock a mix of layer feed, turkey feed, and corn (for the winter). Oh, there is also a supplement I got from Tractor Supply and I sometimes sprinkle in some Russian sunflower seeds. I don't feed too much and the birds are always free-ranging. Lately, I've been getting 1 to 2 eggs a day from 13 hens (the others are molting). The higher protein feed is mixed in for the ducks.

Should I just wait for better weather? Despite the cold, it has been plenty sunny lately but maybe when spring comes around, I'll get more consistent laying. I was just wondering if anyone had any tips.

Thank you. :) I got the material at JoAnn Fabrics. They are having a sale this weekend so I am going to get more fleece for one more poncho for me. Fleece is 60% off. Can't pass that up. I think I will go for a bright, fun print.

I bet your poncho is beautiful. I'm allergic to wool so I couldn't wear alpaca. I've thought about raising them to sell their wool and also use it for crafts and stuff. I see them around here when I cycle.
