No plans for sale. I do have the brochure to go by so I could draw it out to be any size. I want it about 6x12 feet. It's basically a rectangle with the coop at the one end taking up about 1/3 of it. I'm trying to get free lumber from my neighbour who does remodeling.

I would show the brochure to the neighbor, tell him your size and any other modifications and see what his cost estimate is. He would know the structural framing needed, etc. Good start. He might even know someone interested in building it for you. Or cutting the wood. Or drawing out plans. People really do like using their skills.
Good idea. I'll try drawing it out this week.

I just had to turn down an offer to trade my mutt roosters and one hen for 3 meat rabbits. I just couldn't do it. The dreamer in me kept thinking about how badly I wanted meat rabbits.

The Logical-Laura told Dreamer-Laura to shut up and be realistic. I would be trading excess roosters (an expense that I've dealt with) for rabbits (a new expense that I don't want to deal with right now). So I realize now what I must do. I'm gonna have to pull out the sharp knives and process them myself. If I don't want to do that, maybe I can find someone who would do it for me (heck, they can keep half the meat!).

This was too stressful. I didn't like being backed into a corner by some stranger all because he wanted a hen. I'm just gonna have to learn to tell people to back off.
I don't like Practical-Laurie. She always keeps a tight lid on things around here. Still, it is because of her I can pay all my bills and survive.

Don't let people push you around. Stand firm. I am still working on that one myself, but doing better. :)

Laura, you be careful with these transactions and dealing with strangers!
+1

At least you're being smart about it :)

I'm not super handy..and I don't have a lot (if any) tools, but I'm happy to help however I can!

Thank you. :) I have a drill and a sander. I'm not the best with power tools. I'm more likely to lose a finger than get a board cut.... I do know people that I can borrow tools from though.

It's getting warm here today. Nice and sunny too. Hopefully the winds are less than yesterday. Boy do we need rain too.

Good morning everyone!! It's pea soup here in Houston, again!! But it's a balmy 65 so I'll take the fog over cold any day. Y'all have a good one and be safe. Laura, you be careful with these transactions and dealing with strangers!

I know! I don't ever make these sort of transactions alone. There's a Facebook group focused on people with livestock in the Rio Grande Valley and I try and sell birds through there. I always have one of my sisters or my Mom with me just in case. I also carry pens. I don't know if you realize, but pens are pretty good weapons, haha! I hope I never have to use one like that, but it's better to be knowledgeable and safe rather than naive and vulnerable.

Logical-Laura is keeping the chickens alive, haha! Dreamer-Laura is the one who can handle things not working out perfectly because she understands that living the dream is worth the trouble/losses/effort. It's an interesting balance.that I'm still getting used to.

I know it happens everywhere, but I think this.guy was trying to be rude on purpose. Not even gonna call him to say no. I just Facebook'd him. I don't wanna deal with men (read: anyone) who expect you to just give up stuff. His tone implied something and it had me seething when I realized what it meant. It's those holier-than-thou attitudes that bother me so much. Grrr!

My Sister in law and brother in law have taken to building tables/benches and such. So they have a decent amount of tools and offered to help..I may take them up on it..lol.
Than I can learn and help you! lol.
I'd like some rain..maybe Thursday?
I need Wednesday to mow the grass and pick up the backyard. It's nearly garden time!
