Next time the check engine light comes on, go to AutoZone or Oreillys and they will scan it for free. Ask the guy to turn the CEL off. ( times out of 10, it never comes back on unless something is really wrong. Stealerships often write these riduculous service quotes and simply turn off the light and reset the computer. Takes about 30 seconds...
That isn't what happened to me. I also have the old part. I had my son check it at O'Reilly's first. He works there. The dealership checked all the easy stuff first too. I trust this dealership.

I found this fencing. They have other types too, but I don't want bright orange and this is taller so I could stand up in the run with a covering over it. It should still work with plastic stakes. I ma get metal ones though. I can use those with the big girls too.

It will work, right?
Do they have polls tall enough for 7 ft fencing? Hubby said it would make a good pen. I may put the shorter version around my garden to keep the chickens out. Our chicken yard is still open with 4ft fencing around it. I still worry about hawks as I hear them daily.

Not married.  I have a son that wants to be a mechanic for Subaru though.

I was able to get the cost down.  Quite a bit!  This is a very good dealership and I have known the owner's father for almost 25 years.  They take good care of us there.  And they proved that once again today.  I can't say enough good about the Subaru dealership in McKinney. :)

awesome! So glad you have a place you like! My hubby started out changing oil, and has worked up to district manager for a local company. I'm very proud of him, he allows me to be a SAHM, and homeschool my kids, buy goats and chickens.
I got het from a friend, the same lady I got Prince Poppycock from. For the next 10 days to 2 weeks, I will be collecting eggs, from her. Now she is fertilized by a blue laced red wyandotte roo, and soon by my EE roo.
And then buy a mixed dozen (6 of each) of Marans and true Ameraucanas. That will give me 3 dozen for the bator. If all goes as planned, they should hatch around my birthday. Happy birthday to me then lol!

That is 7' tall and I've seen 6, posts. 8' too I think. I also found it for less at HD.

Ok, will check in to that. I find most stuff is a little cheaper at HD. That's where I got my fence. It was right at $100 for 100ft of rabbit wire and the posts. we are scrappers especially lumber so we got lucky and the lady we got our chickens from gave us all the 2 x 4s and wire she had used. For the rest of the coop we used what we had except for some pickets to cover the back wall outside. Couldn't have built it otherwise.

Glad you decided to go ahead and get started. :)

Ms Jellybean...you are up in my son's neck of the woods. He lives in Denton. Lived there myself for many years. Also lived in Decatur for awhile before moving here. Been thru McKinney many times.

Ok hubby just said lets go see what TS has for chicks. So much for fighting temptation. Gonna call and see what they might have.

I talked to my mom and she thinks Janet's idea is a really good one. I think I will pick up the silkie chicks this weekend. I have everything I need for them right now. I just need to borrow Brynn's heat light. I cancelled my heat plate order. Now I may never need it. :) I am saving money!

Car is fixed and back home. :) I don't go out much, but I really like having the car here in case I want to. I feel so trapped when the car is gone.
That is so great! Isn't nice with things fall into a good place. Maybe not perfect but good. I'm so happy for you.

Keep in mind just how big some of the chickens you are looking to buy are when they are all grown up. Australorpes were one breed weren't they? They are huge. That was one of the reasons I was pushing the little bantams--big egg, small chicken. Small chicken means small mess and damage to your yard.

Hey can someone answer a question for me. I think I have 2 roos, they are both RIR. Does anyone know if they will be ok together? I have heard some people say you can't have 2 roos in the same pen and others say you can. I don't know if different breeds act differently. So what do you think?

In general, you can keep roosters together. How successfully depends on the roosters themselves. They usually sort it out and they each know who is the subordinate rooster. Problems happen when neither is prepared to back down. Also, think about your ratio of hens to roosters.
