Not yet...the littles just get picked on too much.
They're in a smaller pen inside the run so they still get outside time without being harassed too much.
Some of my big girls jump in there but Freya doesn't want to go through the trouble. Lol.
They sleep separate at night too.
When they're bigger I don't think it'll be as bad.
They are getting better though.
They're 3/4 weeks apart, so that's why.
They weren't all chicks together.

I really want to find a couple to raise for my DIL. She is in love with these girls. I would like a couple of white ones and a buff one but I can't find a breeder anywhere or anyone around here that has chicks. I am getting bummed!!

I was hoping to surprise her for Easter.

New Braunfels Feed and Supply had new assorted Bantams today.....must resist...must resist.
Do it, do it , do it!

I'm kidding :)...sorta.
The only reason I got the Silkies was for my daughter. So she could get attached.
They'll also make good broodies if I decide to ever try the egg thing :)
Or I could just slip some chicks in there...

I lost an egg customer today. She said my eggs are just too rich and are causing stomach upset. WHAATT

I'm so sorry. I lost quite a few chicks with my first batch. It was hard..

Coming right up! Do you know when you're going?

How old will the pullet be....?

Here are my girls! Well most of them. My other BO, Ava, was a little camera shy.

EE, Pearl. She's turned into a cuddler since her "brother" left.

EE, Rosey, aka "Little Hawk"

Silkies: Lil' Blue and Coco

Pearl again

My bossy girls: Barred Rock, Freya, and BO Eloise
They look like they're posing

Freya loves nothing more than picking on the Silkies.

They are all so pretty! Seems like they grew up overnight!

Bantams, smaller chicken, smaller coop!

Did it do the Tarzan yell???? I had gone into the pen to change out their water. I wasn't thinking and I squatted down. Normally I just bend over. Next thing I know I had 5 of them on my back walking around and pecking at my hair. I am now their new play toy!

Lisa :)
No Tarzan cry, but that darn little thing just wouldn't let go. I had him/her buzzing around my face for the longest time--I even walked into another room to show my husband.

Today I finally got around to vaccinating for Mareks. They are five weeks old, so I hope they will develop a bit more immunity than if I had done them at a day old. As I was taking them out, one had a huge chunk of wood in its beak desperately trying to get that big worm down. I took the wood out of its mouth, vaccinated the chick, put him back and he immediately grabbed that wood again. Silly thing.

I wanted to share the coop my dh is building for me. We are currently storing bicycles in it, but that will change as soon as I can get the bicycles into the too full garage.

From the front, it looks just like a garage.

On the back side. All of this is chicken wire. The outside will be framed in hardware wire as well to keep predators out. The door will go somewhere back here. I am standing in the run area.

Looking in. I could see more when I was taking the picture.

This is the side. I think that the roosts will go here. I'm not yet sure where we will put the nesting boxes.

This is the doorway between the front of the garage and where the chickens will be. I will keep the front area for feed storage, etc.

Thank you!
I'm a proud bird mama!
I got smiley when I posted them on the EE board and my EE's were called "elusive" due to their coloring.

I don't know if that's true or not, but it made me proud. Lol.
They ARE growing up fast though....
My BR and BOs already have wattles starting..

Eggs are too rich! That's absurd. Our eggs are healthier than store eggs! Currently looking for an article about our eggs. I will post once I find it.
