Oh Oh...keep us posted on how that Bator treats you. I keep walking past them at TSC and thinking I need one. Its easier to justify just picking something up at TSC than ordering the HovaBator I really want off the internets.
I will! I'm not really sure what I've gotten myself into...lol I was going to go with the LG they have and a turner but they didn't have the fan. Once I picked all of the parts up and 'extras' the FI 4200 seems like a good deal. Since its my first time and its with shipped eggs, I'm hoping its goof proof!
Okay, so update on the horizontal chicken nipples....
After my birds spent the first night in the coop, I went back out the next morning and grabbed Matilda the Rooster. He squawked and kicked, but I finally wrangled him into submission. I poked his beak into one of the nipples and low and behold a drop of water came out. This immediately got his attention and he stood there staring at it shaking his head. I immediately grabbed the Jane the rooster and did the same thing. That's when they went at it like they havene't had water in a year. Well after that, it didn't take long for them to teach their ladies and Guineas how to use the nipples. Overall it was pretty simple. You just have to wait and show them how to use them when they are thirsty. I doubt I will ever go back to the nasty gravity water buckets that collect poop and pine shavings.
Can you explain your watering system again, with close-up pictures. I bought I think every kind of nipple you can buy but haven't actually used one. I hate the waterers I've bought and want something that is a lot cleaner.
Does anyone know of a place close to Houston where I can get almost laying chickens? I do not want chicks, as cute as they are, because I don't want to wait long for them to lay. Wabash, in Houston, has only 1 week old chicks.
Any suggestions?
Are there places online that deliver 2-3 juveniles?
SEAhorses!! I love seahorses. I love to scuba dive and see them in the "wild" so to speak. My hubby and I have always wanted a wall type saltwater fish tank, but it has never happened. I am so impressed!!
Right! Seahorses are just beautiful. I like jellyfish too.
I've also seen some beautiful sea slugs. I found a pink leopard looking one when I was a kid, snorkeling in Mission Bay.

My roo was always squirrely too.
He was sweet until he started crowing then something just happened and he'd try and bite my feet when I went to pick him up. lol
I just got finished giving my Lab her shower and it looks like I skinned a smaller dog in there.
She was an out side dog until she got picked up in town by the Po Po, because she thinks she lives in a town like on the movie My dog Skip! She is just as loving as she can be but because of her adventure, we got a ticket and now she is an inside dog. She is killing my allergies.
I have a training collar on her that worked really well to keep her from running off and I also have a GPS locater on her other collar that goes to an app on my phone if she does run off so I can find her.
I would happily let all of that go with her if I could find a loving home for her. She LOVES to be out side and when I am out side and can watch her she is good. OR when I can leave the back door open she run in and out but my allergies can't handle it any more. I keep a headache.
She is good with kids,; when she was out side she kept everything out of our yard at night. She has the deepest voice, very good watch dog. She is 2 years old and as far as a house dog she is super. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, potties in the house. She would chew off her leg before she would potty in the house. She is just a great dog and we are going to be sad to see her go but I just can't take much more of this.
So I really need to find her a good loving home that will take good care of her. I'm willing to meet someone depending on how far it is as long as she is going to someone who will love her.
Quote: Better yet...I have all the parts to make another one that will go outside in the run. I'll compile pictures as I am making it along with Home Depot part numbers so you can duplicate. I'll try to do this tonight if the kiddos aren't too needy.
OMGoodness THATS IT!! That is just what I have been trying to come up with!!! Have I said I love this chicken heaven place called BYC!! Trip to Tyler to go to Sams in now on the to do list for this week!!!!
I have my first try at hatching eggs shipping to me this weekend! They are Silkied/Split Ameraucana.
I'm so excited! We bought an incubator at TSC yesterday, a Farm Innovators 4200 w/turning tray. I've read not to trust the thermometer so I will pick a second one up this weekend.
Good day folks, We moved our little gang into their new quarters last yesterday. They love it. Lots more room to run around. This should hold them for a couple of weeks until we get a growout pen built and it warms up more.
We checked on them four times until about 4am and they were fine even though it got cold. My hubby built this out of all stuff we had around here. I think the only thing that was new were the screws holding it together. lol
Hey Chapel Hill, I am in Quitman just about 40 miles north of Tyler, give or take a mile. Welcome!!
What is your PBC pipe connected to? Well, I mean I see the hose but is it connected to a gravity bucket on the wall or what?
They are so cute. It's only been 3 weeks but I can't hardly remember my peeps being so fuzzy...... see I need a handful more to remind me!!! LOL

That is so sad you need to give her up. Does the underground electric fencing not work for you? My sister used one of those for her dog and it worked pretty well. I don't think Skipper ever left the yard after they installed it.
Hope you find a good home for her.

You may want to give this place a look: http://www.clabornfamilyfarms.com/
I have seven pullets I bought as 7 week olds (now 12), but they also sell older birds. They are outside of Waco.

I think Murray McMurray has a pretty good selection of juveniles too
Me too! But I'm in the Historic District.
Welcome!
We should TOTALLY do that!!

Awwwww!
She looks like a sweetie! And I'm such a sucker...I'd love her...but I definitely don't have the room....
Ok, well we will look a head and when he if fixing to leave again, we can set up a day. That would be fun! And if you know of someone what could give my lab a good home.... Please let me know.
