Texas

Thats a very good deal. 35 bucks for a rain barrel that already has faucet attach is a good deal, as long as it isn't one of those blue barrels. My wife refuses to allow me to use anything that doesn't "enhance" the look of the yard, LOL. I wish I had a place like that around here. I could really use some $100 dollar food grade totes. Places here want 140 and up.

That is a nice incubator, checked it out. how did you go about getting the eggs? How many did you have to order?
I found them off of BYC, in the forums under Buy/Sell/Trade and then hatching eggs. I noticed the seller is from Texas so I'm hoping since its not to far to travel, the odds will be in my favor. I know there's no guarantees. I sent her a PM with any questions I had, she was awesome answering me back, I used paypal to send the money, now I'm just waiting for them to get here, hopefully Monday or Tuesday. I'm hoping to have a couple of eggs from our own girls to try with it but our new cockerel doesn't seem to interested in them yet, maybe he's still to young? My daughter said he mated one of our partridge Plymouth rock girls but I haven't seen him try and they aren't my favorite girls anyways...

You need more than a handful. Two handfuls, at least.

That is so sad you need to give her up. Does the underground electric fencing not work for you? My sister used one of those for her dog and it worked pretty well. I don't think Skipper ever left the yard after they installed it.
Hope you find a good home for her.

We have 5 acres and my hubby said no on the underground electric fencing. I tried the wireless but there was to much to interfere with the signal. Someone else said put her in a pen, but I can't do that. She loves to be able to foam and be a farm dog. We are just to close to town.... we are like sitting on the city limits. lol

That's for sure! For get SAMs LOL and I love SAMs.... but 35 dollars wins. And I am with your wife on the blue barrels. It looks like these are black so I can do that. LOL

I was looking for BCM's locally since I don't think the hatch date for the ones I was getting from TN is going to work for shipping. I came across an ad for some BCM's and Wheaten Marans that are from the Bev/Fritz lines. Their eggs are an 8 or 9 on the marans scale!

Yes, please, I'll take 3. He only sells straight run. I hope I get at least on girl in the bunch. They are coming in May. :)

That's great. I would take his 8 or 9 color with bit of a grain of salt. I just went to a poultry show that was a Marans meet, so a HUGE Marans entry plus a Marans egg contest. I think all the eggs were a 4 or a 5. I don't think I saw a 6, and yes, I have a Marans egg chart. A 9 is almost purple it is so dark. Once a hen starts laying eggs, her eggs lighten up--they run out of the pigment to "paint" the eggs with.

Here is his ad. If the shells in the ad are what he is talking about they are more like a 7. Still nice though. :) Pretty birds too.

I forgot to ask, when are your chicks coming, other than the Marans in May?
Next week!
