Question: What do you guys find is the best ratio of Roo to Hen for maintaining a steady stream of fertile eggs? My flock is growing and I now have 5 pullets and 1 roo...how many more pullets/hens before I need another roo?

I found this ad on Craig's list. I spoke to the lady the other day, very nice. I don't know if she sells older pullets. She isn't too terribly far from me.

You could contact this person and ask to be notified when they have older pullets available. They have some nice looking birds.

Thank you Lord. We just got a sweet little rain storm. Had some pea size hail. Only 13/100th of an inch, but maybe it will help my bluebonnets the kids planted for my birthday last Oct.

HELP!!. Who was it that told us about the Velcro strips to use as leg bands??
Is this what you were talking about?

If so how do you do this? I cut on in half one way and then the other way to get it smaller. then I got it on the leg ok. It was loose on the leg where it could move, I didn't put it on tight. I was thinking COOL. But then one of the little peckers took it off of the chicks leg. Then she was running and dashing around like she had scored the prize worm!
So what went wrong? Lol can you take a pic of one if your with it on?

Finally got my Orpington chicks!!! Mostly blacks with one blue and one other possible blue!! Cant believe how big they are and they hatched on the 23!! Im gonna have to get a bigger brooder ><"

Good day my fellow friends who are loves and adored by out feathered friens... anyone have any suggesting about keeping pollitas (spanish) cool in 80+ degrees weather....at night it's in the 50's and they stay in the coop under the heat lams, quite comfortable... they actually look quite comfortable in the day, is that because they are so young? Also, i make sure they have chick meal all day long and have been supplementing with chicken scratch, they really go for it....it is aproppiate to feed them all day long?? They also love mushed banana...a little treat only once in a while ... Thank you all!
