Anyone know what kind of goose that is? There's one piebald like that at a "local" park. She's really pretty, if I can convince John to let me have some next year as a wedding gift.... It'd be those.

I was thinking about using plastic fencing like this. I've read reviews on a few of them and this one seems to hold up better than the others.

I have been reading about the netting stuff, I am just not sure. I know it will cost a little more money to do it framed in and coved with wire, but in the long run I think it will be better!

Wow, it is sad looking what ever it is! Guess I better show that to DH and make sure he understands the risks now.... he will have to do the run the way I want it. LOL

Ok I have got read and get caught up on all the days happens in a little bit but I need ya'll option. DH can't see what I am wanting when it comes to my pen/run. It is going to be somewhere around 14 x 25 x 7ft tall. He was thinking T-bar and wire, I said NO we have to cover this pen. I was thinking wood frame with wire and covered. How big is ya'll, and how did you cover it and with what did you cover it with.

We use welded wire fencing for side and top of runs with a layer of chicken wire 3 feet tall on the sides of the runs layered underneath the welded wire. The chicken wire keeps small chicken body parts inside and the welded wire keeps things out. We don't have as big of a run as you have, since our setup is entirely mobile - large chicken tractors that I move with a vehicle - but you can put wire over the top of your run as long as you put in some support posts and joists to hold up the wire.

Don't forget that you'll need good deep shade for your run. We use shade cloth on the tops as well as the sides of the runs, to provide shade throughout the day as the sun moves - but we have NO trees for any kind of shade.

My coop/run combo is 10 x 20 ft. I used 2 stalls out of my barn to do it. It has a tin roof and hardware cloth for the sides. OSB is along the North wall, and along the East & West wall about 5 ft. The plan is to build an outdoor run that is 20 x 20 feet. It will have hardware cloth for the sides and top.



This is a pic of the West side. The run will start at the white corner and go all the way to the right where the wire ends. In essence, the run will be twice as big as the coop.




This is the East side. As you can see, the whole 10 x 10 "stall" on the end is total cloth wire. The "coop" section is on the far North end. You can see more pics from the link in my signature.

I only have room for 6 but got 9 chicks... I had heard that some of the chicks don't make it sometimes.... Well ...they are all doing great .. Now I'm not sure what ill do... I think I will wait till they are out of the brooder and see their temperament and then pick which ones to give away and see if any of them are Roos... I have a girl at work who has plenty of room and will take the ones I think I'll be able to give away...

I've heard that also. So far, all of mine have made it just fine. May lose some as they get older, but so far so good.

Wow that took forever to catch up!

To whom ever asked about my frizzled - they all look different because they all come from different looking hens. Though they are large flock Easter eggers.

We never did get much rain today.

I dug up some snacks for the girls. They really enjoyed the greens!




Then some decided to lie down in the sun for a nap, while others wanted to get in their bath tub!




I love to just sit and watch them.
