DH's folks are reroofing their house. They bought 4 extra sheets of galv-alum tin for his new workshop roof! Will be able to make it a little bigger 10 x 12ft. That's at least $100! what a nice surprise! They are the best...gonna hug the stuffin' outta them for that!

Well the little failure to thrive didn't survive the morning. Put her down around eleven after I found her mostly dead in the feed bucket with an empty craw. Poor baby had a swollen esophagus from god knows what and wasnt able to eat. Makes sense now.

Lyle has been bugging me and bugging me for ladies. He stalked me all day yesterday begging.

Then he got Larry telling on the teens while I was reading my book.









These two are a hoot. Told Lyle to be patient, his ladies were still to young for him. But in a few weeks the teenagers will be officially introduced to their new boyfriend. Maybe they'll think he's to die for.

Sorry about your little one not making it.
Very handsome bird. DH wants some rocks for our flock...memories of what his grandmother kept.
BTW....that is a creepy book, but good and scary...loved it.

Good day folks
Stayed up too late...getting a late start...having a hard time getting up some steam today.
Nearly got run over when I opened the coop this morning.
Looks like a beautiful day to get some more work done.
Going to town for poles and concrete for new pole barn.
And some tomato plants... But not going near any place that has chicks! Nope...nope!

Hung, considering they're both males... I'd hope no offspring come into play. Haha! Yes they are very pretty. I love them very much. Spoiled boys, to boot. The ladies don't quite care for them yet. Scoff when he tries to flirt but they sure don't mind the food hand outs!

Just a quick update for my Tx Peeps.
We built our own cooler bater.

We set 18 of our own eggs. 2 were infertile, 10 hatched. 6 were late quitters.

This EE hen disappeared a while ago, but brought us back a present!

On top of that I have 3 more broody Buff Leghorns that are due to hatch between Monday and Wednesday.

May God help me, but I added 8 more eggs eggs to the Incubator yesterday!

Happy Good Friday!!! Got the garden all in. Always try and plant on good Friday. I am sooo tired. We used lots of plant paper and peat moss to maximize veggies and minimize water and weeds. Hatching like crazy here. Got 25 or so in the brooder. They are all my own eggs-Marans and Arkansas Blue roo x SBEL. I also had to cull a weak baby this morning. Heck of a way to start the day and I hate it but I also can't let them linger and suffer needlessly. Have lots more to do and another batch hatching in a few days. These out of the new foamabator. We will see how it does.

Now you tell me. If I had known that I would have gotten out in the garden first thing. Big sigh. Oh well. We had a freeze this week but the stuff I've been growing all winter did ok since I haven't yet taken the plastic off of the hoops yet. Guess I need to get my butt in gear and get seedlings outside this weekend.

your son reminds me of my youngest! He has a similar michivious grin! We call him JT and he has loved the chicken coop project. I too am in a chick fix! I currently have 23 and have 10 more coming... I need to add on to my coop to give some more foot room and am going to give some to a friend. How did you make your "cooler bater" ? I'm assuming that is like a candling?
