They learn quickly, don't they. All we need do is walk to the barn with any kind of plastic sack and they assume it's for them. They follow in a troop along the fence...too funny!

Yes they do!! You should see it when my wife leaves for work. They look like 2 legged dogs chasing the car!! They only go so far!!

Oh my!  Glad she got them all down.  We love spoiling them.  I haven't done grapes yet.  We do have a watermelon on the porch we got for us to eat Memorial day but it was so rainy we didn't cut it and decided to wait a couple of days til it gets warm again to give them a share.

I have a watermelon too. I bought it for the kids and hubby, but they don't seem interested, so the chickens, ducks, and geese may get a lot of watermelon over the next few days. Guess they won't be too bored in their coop if they have that to squabble over, lol. Nothing like treats to break the depression of storms!

Sounds like some spoiled ladies. I give my girls raisins (shriveled grapes) and they go wild!! I sit on the front porch steps, and they climb all over me. In my lap, on my legs, on my shoulders, etc. Love It!!

I just brought raisins to make oatmeal raisin cookies, I will have to share the sweets with the flock and see how they like those. If they love grapes, they will probably go bonkers for raisins!

You got that right!! I let the girls out for a little while after the rain stopped. When I went to put them up, I had to bribe them. I got 2 big dishes of unflavored yogurt and mixed raisins in with it. They went in really easy and went crazy over it!!!

Ok everyone off subject of the storm. This special chick is 3 weeks old and half the size and half as feathered as her brother and sisters. She walks weird and top part of her legs, I guess the knee? W.e it is, both are swollen I noticed. How can I help her?

that sounds like a vitamin deficiency you should try a broad range vitamin supplement that has riboflavin, fish oil, vitamin A, D3, E, B12 etc

I need some too :/
About time to open the nesting boxes and fill em up!
Plus I put it down in my run..they love digging in it :)
I'm afraid to go into the feed store though!

why?

Nine total hatched. One died trying to hatch, and the last one was probably my fault cause I cracked the egg moving momma around to get the old eggshells out. That one died in shell too. Dx But, nine outta 15 is not bad! 4 were not fertilized, and then lost two. Will see how things go in the morning.

On another note my grandfather is in the hospital. I went to visit him today.... he doesn't look so well. He has a UTI and a blood infection... Don't know when he will be able to go home.

I wish mine did that! But either mine know the trick for what it is and are too smart to go into the coop, or I haven't found their weakness yet. I have given watermelon, grapes, strawberries, lettuce, kale, parsley, squash, cucumber, broccoli, coli flower, and tomatoes. Most fresh from my gardens and while they enjoy the treats, they refuse to get cooped for them. Only when it's evening time will some finally go in, not before. So letting them out is either an all or nothing deal. Unless I feel like chasing and cornering them in my yard, which is exhausting. Dang birds, too smart and stubborn for their own good!
