Texas

Nine total hatched. One died trying to hatch, and the last one was probably my fault cause I cracked the egg moving momma around to get the old eggshells out. That one died in shell too. Dx But, nine outta 15 is not bad! 4 were not fertilized, and then lost two. Will see how things go in the morning.

On another note my grandfather is in the hospital. I went to visit him today.... he doesn't look so well. He has a UTI and a blood infection... Don't know when he will be able to go home.
Congrates on the successful hatch! The chicks are adorable, are they Aussies?. Hope all will do well.
Pray your grandfather a speedy recovery.

They are d'anvers in the colors quail, silver quail, and blue silver quail. =) The three in the photo were all quail ones though. I can't wait till they get older and I can sex them. I am only allowed to have hens in my area, so unless I move before the cockerels start crowing the boys are all gonna have to go. Some of the girls too since I can probably only get away with maybe keeping three of them. =)

Thank you so much. I hope he can get out soon. But he has given up most of his fight. Can't do much but wait and hope he does better.

Howdy!

I'm in Lubbock:) I am completely new to this chicken thing. Lol! I have 5 so far. They are 2 weeks old tmrw and currently living in my laundry room in a brooder box until my husband finishes converting wooden playhouse to chicken shack. I have 2 black astrolorps and 3 buff orpingtons. They are named, of course, by my 3 children. They are Lucy and Ethel, Myrtle, Gertrude and Opal.
Looking forward to this adventure!

Carly
