Looks like you can fit a couple more. After all that rain, they shouldn't need a pool... LOL

Lol, that's the truth. There are 8 geese total, 6 are fully feathered, the youngest 2 are still fuzz butts and not fully accepted by the older geese. The big dominant gander won't share a pool with any goose, except his hatch mate Jasmine, from time to time. And when he does share a pool with her, he always tries to mate with her.

Not sure if anyone has posted yet (playing catch up) but Ideal has a special on white/bronze turkey today and assorted geese. Call in special. Just thought I'd share!

ETA: I also received and email about their straight run assortment over the weekend, over hatch, at a special price but I'm not sure if its still available. It was $1.44 a chick, 25 minimum, if I'm remembering right.

While I'd love to add more chickens and geese to my flock, I can't. My hubby would kill me, and due to the storms I have no place to put them. Maybe after I redesign the duck/goose coop, but not before. I think I am just going to go with what I have, adding 1 rooster for fertility and protection and see what next year brings.

Jeeze, did I Really just say that? Help! I think I am sick!

Welcome to BYC! I am in Lubbock as well. Started this chicken thing at the beginning of the year. I have a flock of seven 23-week old pullets that are beginning to lay, and a group of fourteen 6-week babies about to come out of the brooder (2, maybe 3 are roos). Let me know if you have any questions, and I'll help if I can.

I stopped ordering chicks for the year a couple of weeks ago. Until I realized I over sold our 'replacement' pullets this year, I'm hoping to stagger out ages for when the older girls start to slow down. We have a number of cockerels waiting for process and they make it feel like there's more here than there are.

So, 2 weeks ago I bought 10 six week old pullets, we have 7 left. We had eggs in the incubator but only 1 hatched, luckily a local feed store had a few chicks so I bought 4 more pullets. I then set more eggs in the incubator, I still haven't had a successful hatch, so I'm scared to get excited about them. This morning I ordered 10 assorted pullets from Ideal, plus they will send males for warmth. I was trying to be responsible and only ordered 10.

So, since I stopped for the year, by Friday, I will have around 25-30 more chicks, depending on how many males are added for warmth...Not including the eggs in the incubator because those are still up in the air...eeekkkk! lol I meant to order a couple of geese but forgot, and I didn't get the email until I placed the order about the turkeys but I do have 5 this year...all appear to be male, I was hoping to keep one female. Oh well!
