yeah my table saw doesn't have a guard or a guide so shes a bit more dangerous:clap

Yeah, mine has a laser guide, but 2 cuts and it's clogged with sawdust. I took wood shop and general mechanics in high school, I have used nearly every tool out there, including a mig welder. The tools that have tables and platforms feel safer (to me) to use as long as you pay attention. But the large tools that move, well it's a good way to cut your leg off. I am actually wanting to get a few more tools, but the hubby is next and he wants air tools so he can work on the cars, so I gotta wait for my turn again, lol.

i have never been able to touch the cull bird without my rubber gloves so don't feel bad :thumbsup

I don't use gloves, the gloves make handling the bird hard due to slippage. I am the one that puts the bird in our killing cone, and sometimes I have to hold the legs if the bird is very fat and don't fit right in the cone. (it's a milk jug, so not the best but very affordable, lol) I got no problem touching my cull birds, I think it's more that after working for that company, killing all those mice, goats, and pigs, I just have a hard time with killing now. I know my chickens aren't tortured and experimented on, that they have good lives and will put down as easily as possible, but I just struggle. Instead of giving me thicker skin, seeing those friendly faces before, and during the experiments just made me sick. And knowing that after all that pain they were killed regardless of if they healed or not, so sad. I remember 1 goat, a little girl came up and pick pockets us as we were setting up her stuff. The next time I saw her she had broken legs infected with bacteria, and she still tried to get up for scratches and love. Then she was dead, and it changed a lot of things for me.

Anyway, I'll work through it. I know I can do it, done it before and I can and will do it again.

yeah i can't wait till im done setting up our pool its been really hot lately (not as hot as it could be but still) it's above ground but i'm still trying to figure out a filter system that won't be harmful to the ducks i would love for them to have a full(er) sized pool to swim in while im at school or at work

Our above ground pool is a no bird zone, can't have them pooping in my kids pool. But they have 4 kiddie pools and I want to install a pond for them. Am looking into pond set ups, filtration, and trying to design a ecosystem that helps reduce all the poop they are gonna drop in there. Lol.

Oh I also have a question for y'all. I am going to raise my coop off the ground and was wondering if 18 inches would be sufficient or if I was better off at 2 feet. My hubby thinks 18 inches is more than enough but I don't know. The whole coop will be 4ft deep and 8 feet long. I don't want to go higher than 2 feet because I'm trying to keep the whole coop level with our fence. We live in saburbia and I like my neighbors.

Ours sit off the ground at 2 ft, which gives even our largest roosters good head room to get under it for shade/rain protection.

My coop is about 2 feet off the ground. But mine is a repurposed storage building and it's leaning again so I have to relevel it. I am going to raise mine to make it easier to get the jacks under there for the next time part of it sinks. The building is on a steel frame that makes it difficult to get the jacks under. Keep in mind that once its off the ground you will have to block the underside off from the birds and predators that can fit under there. Don't want snakes or even stray cats making a home under your coop. how high you raise it is up to you, I am going to make mine high enough for easy access because parts of my yard floods and sinks when we get rain.

Went out to water the chickens to find that my 5 EE in the small coop gone. Nothing but feathers left I guess a raccoon got the roof up and got inside. No blood or anything else around inside or outside the coop. Just lots of feathers. I knew I should have put a latch on the roof but thought its over 2ft off the ground and not very light in weight so never thought a coon could get in. So now the only bantams I have are my silkies. Going to put latch and d rings on everything plus buy me a live trap and see what I get.

I'm sorry your chicks are gone. Not knowing is so hard. Crossing fingers you catch the culprit quickly!

Well, we survived my sons B-day pool party! Yay. And a McCracken happened, my dominant gander Snow didn't attack or threaten anyone! Not even when the kids were running around having water gun wars. Snow even walked right behind my dad's chair and brushed up against him, usually Snow attacks my dad. I have no clue why Snow was such a good boy, but I am so grateful. The boys were driving me insane with their stunts, especially throwing each other around in the above ground pool and diving over the sides to get in and out. I am amazed I didn't drown one of them! My own included lol. But it's over now, thank God. Though mommy is sunburned, I'm going to be a red lobster for a while. I shaded the pool and had the kids stay out of direct sunlight for most of the day, but forgot to do the same for myself. I am going to be very painful tomorrow. That'll teach me.

Oh man... Sorry, that really sucks.

dang that sucks that's why we use pad locks on all our coops they are more expensive but no coon dog losses yet
