can you give me details that point out that it is a roo.
the comb along with the color. darker red patches on wings
I don't even think a black copper roo would have that much red on him.

can anyone help me identify his breed? I had no help in the what breed what gender section
Look at the Serama thread. He kind of looks likes them...if he's as little as he looks

The white one is my splash, marans, the one above her, to the right, is what I thought was a black marans, but she has the cooper feathering around her neck-not nearly as much as the one at the top, directly in the middle of the flock, below the real copper, is my cuckoo! All hens, 9 weeks old

Still waiting on our 5th Lady to start laying. She squats the lowest & I know it's only a matter of time. If it takes much longer, I'm going to have to start searching the yard for surprises. Ha-ha!

Not to change the subject, but I am a little worried about one of my girls. One of my RIR's combs is turniing a shade of purple at the very top. She is acting normal and is laying regularly, but the color change has got me concerned. Should I be worried????

I would get her checked out. My rooster did that and he had lacked oxygen. It could be a number of things. Some serious, some semi easily fixed

What are the possibilities?? Maybe I could have a simple fix, maybe not. I just need to know.

idk, but a number of things ive heard can cause it, like worms, lack of oxygen, heart defects ect. I took my roo to the vet, hes the one I had to euthanise him. He had alot of scar tissue in his trachea. He had a very thin airway for oxygen. Its also possible it could be a type of infection that could be treated with antibiotics.
