Welcome to all the new Texans and BYCers!

I can personally say I have converted one of my physical therapists over to the chicken way and am steadily working on my orthopedic doctor! I have all but convinced him he needs a trip to go get him some little fuzz butts.

I also think I have convinced one physical therapist to get a goat. I'll soon turn the physical therapy building there in Fort Worth into a petting zoo at the very least!

The brain injury program is going pretty good. It's VERY intense compared to the normal therapy but I have high hopes. I hope that by the time I get out of there I can at least do some volunteer work or something so I am not a complete drag on society.

Spent the majority of my life in Southern Nevada.
We retired in 2006 and built a homestead in Northern Nevada.
All our grankids are in Southern, along with our daughters.
Long story how we ended up in Texas, but this is where the journey brought us so I'm workin' on re-building!

New state, new climate, and an all new experience with a flock I reckon. )

Hello to all!! I live in Lubbock and we have 5 girls right now. 1 Barred Rock, 1 Cochin, 1 Blue Ameraucanas and 2 Black Australorps. They were all hatched in October 2014 and all but my Ameraucanas have started laying in the last few weeks! This is my first time having chickens and I have really enjoyed it so far!!!

Hello to Lubbock I have a friend who moved there like 3 years ago. If you want best layers add some leghorns

Hi everyone!!!! New to Texas and BYC!!!! We live north of Fort Worth and have 8 runner ducklings...so far!!!!

Cool - what's it like raising ducks? Are they really as messy as I've heard? I was thinking I might add them, down the line. The place I sell my eggs is interested in adding duck eggs to the roster.

They are very messy in the brooder and super cute. I love my ducks but they are a bit different then chickens.

Maybe because I don't have chickens they don't seem that bad? Man, if ducks are considered messy chickens must be clean, lol!
