We have quail and turkeys hatching today. The turkeys are a day early the quail are two days late. Its like Andre and the giants in the Hatcher!!

David, Rooster, and anyone else in my area.. How's the tornado weather treating you? Anyone without power?

Had 2 inches rain in a bit over 30 minutes here. Lost juice and land line for a few. Open Air Coop got a washing inside and out but boys and girls roost up high and stayed dry.

Bullfrogs were looking for dry land and my garden got a real good soaking.
Hope you and John fared well thru this storm.

Well first of all, welcome to chicken raising from Cut-N- Shoot!!! Second, if you are thinking about buying a coop from some of these manufacturers, be careful, do your homework. Most, that I have seen, will sell you a product, saying and promising it will last, but it doesn't. It will maybe make it a year before it starts to rot. They will tell you you can fit 6 birds "comfortably into a coop that will only fit 4 at the most. The runs they build onto these coops are,at the very least, predator resiliant. I have been building coops/runs for the past 2 years, and have found, that the folks that have purchased my coops, have not had a problem with predators, disease, or any other problem with chicken raising. I want you to know, I am breaking one of my strictest rules, I do not advertise on this blog. It sounds like you are desparate, so I decided to contact you to give you something to think about. Attached is some of my work...

How the heck you doing Ken?? Glad to see someone building good quality coops instead of those Barbie Doll pieces of junk!!! Will try to make Conroe Trade Days but been busier than a one legged man in an arse kicking contest here!!! David

Ken, i have actualy seen your coops somewhere knlong the way in my internet search. I really love the style of the red "brick" coop.

I have managed to cut posts for the coop legs and have boards cut for the bottom frame. Tomorrow i will work on cutting boards to frame the walls. If i can manage that, i will go ahead and purchase the rest of the materials I'll need. So far I have spent $4 on some wood from Habitat ReStore, and I got some scrap wood from a home construction site (yes, I asked first). I am getting more confident in my circular saw skills, but I still have a long way to go. Luckily the chickens won't know the difference!

This is the coop that I absolutely love, although I am going for the coop only and not the incorporated run. It is a BYC coop, of course.
