Tabby Cat Down. LOL

Yeah she had a busy day :) Had killed herself a frog, a mouse, a vole and a bird all before noon.

She adopted us when we lived in Houston. She was spayed and declawed when she showed up at our house there.
We brought her with us when we moved to the country.

We are pretty amazed at what she can hunt and kill without those claws.

She is put up nightly for her own protection (from coyotes, bobcats, other cats, dogs, etc.)

I used the deep litter method with the pine flakes.  Even then, I would run a pitchfork through it about once a week to keep it turned over and so the wetter parts could dry out.  I am thinking that maybe hay packs easier.  Might try adding some of the pine flakes and giving it a good toss with the pitchfork.  Also might mean you need to address some drainage issues, like making sure the water is directed away from around the coop.  That could be as simple as using a hoe to pull some drainage paths that direct the water away or do you need some sort of gutters to direct it away?  Hope this helps!!!

Thx...like the trench idea and backfill with rocks

Seems like everyone has been real busy! Wish I was closer to get to Conroe days. That looks like it's going to be great fun! Still waiting on the order from Arrow feed here in Granbury for my Easter Eggers, they won't be in until June. Should be interesting getting them to join in with the rest of the flock.

Hope everyone is enjoying the rain! Just had a spot of hail and everyone of my chickens put themselves up but the silly goat was standing in the rain yelling his fool head off. His head is bigger but I guess his brain is smaller. :)

I'm hoping the hail didn't kill my little plants that are in the garden but we shall see.

Well, my ugly little house is getting an emergency redo tomorrow. We had a tree fall through...

Long story short, I am glad you are getting some help with your roof. Your dad has a long drive from Laredo to Trinity. But, I am glad you are getting some help with your roof.
I remember when my dad came from New Mexico to Laredo. I offered to pay for airfare for him. He decided to take Greyhound instead. I remember picking him up. He had a big straw cowboy hat, a snap cowboy shirt, a big belt buckle, polyester cowboy cut pants and boots. He said, "I was amazed, everyone on the bus dressed like me!" I could only chuckle.

Exactly right. I know how to ask where groceries are when I visit, he's pretty close to Freer though so I usually go there when we're visiting. 50 miles one way 65 the other I think...

I've been fussing about that tree since November. Holding off on the I told you sos until we're done. Only one beam fractured, the rest is cosmetic thank God.
