Ugh, we just hit home a little while ago and I put up the ducks and fed the dogs. I let them out and they went nuts and flipped out darting around the yard. I figured they got the scent of a rat or something. Next think I know my coonhound was shaking something fuzzy in her mouth. She dropped in as soon as I have the command, she is really good about that, and backed up. The hubby went out to check since I didn't have shoes on and our yard is a soupy mess. Poor thing was a kitten and it took its last breath. I feel really bad and pray that it wasn't someone's pet. We are in the suburbs and most cats stay away due to all the dogs around.

Ugh!!! I'm so torn and feel so bad. At the same time I have ducks and new chicks and don't want things in my yard. If it came between my animals and someone else's I will chose mine. My dogs do so well with our flock and cat but if it doesn't belong it's fair game. I just never though they would kill a cat.

You are welcome. There is someone in my area who is always trying to sell Muscovy ducks, I just can't find him/her right now. Will keep on looking and let you know.

Thank you very much for the offer, but I am not interested in that type of duck. I was just trying to be helpful with the link I use, because some really nice and usually nicely priced geese breeds are posted. If I am ever in the market for Muscovy ducks, I will definitely be open to your suggestions. Cheers

It finally stopped raining long enough for me to paint! We have been doing some landscaping around the coop as well (in the rain, of course). The girls have feathered wings and are enjoying the gift of flight. I never knew chickens would be so fun!
