Texas

Hey Kate, how are y'all doing?? Stayin' dry??

For the most part!!! We're in Laredo right now, my sister is taking care of the flock. Got a call saying that the horses busted down the fence running from the storms. Thankfully still on the property. Hope they stay that way until we get home tomorrow! She can't catch them. My alpha mare is crazy and very few cam handle her.

What kind of chickens do you have, and we need pics!

Night Ken! Hope it dries out at your place soon. We have water standing everywhere. It stinks to high heaven.

e. It stinks to high heaven.

i have black giant chicks, white giant chicks, buff orpingtons chicks & hens, and some rhode island reds.
I've got a mixed flock too. I have 3 Barred Rocks, 3 Black Australorps, 3 Easter Eggers and 3 Buff Orps from last year. This year I've got 8 Blue/Splash English Orps. I like all the ones I have now, but the Orps are my favs. So far at least! lol

With all the rain here west of Lampasas the snakes are heading for high ground. We have killed a rattlesnake, copperhead, cottonmouth and three rat snakes. I normally let the rat snakes go but all three were found in nest boxes after eating eggs, one of the big ones had eaten five guinea eggs. We have also seen a prairie racer and a coach whip out around the pens but they are such good mousers we leave them alone. You don't want to reach into a nest box and get hit by one of these bad boys.
