In case anyone needs an awe moment. My husband came home and plotted out to the coops to meet the newly hatched ducklings. Look at his face! He was telling her what a good girl she is.

It's getting really hot in Texas. I have my 3-4 week chick's in a coop closed up outside. It only has a small vent. Will they get to hot? I let them out for a while supervised but the run is messed up and I'm waiting for a replacement piece. Should I find something to rig it so I can the door open for them?
I would. I also check the water on all my birds daily. They are still panting. I haven't lost a bird yet. Egg production is slightly down. They are not a big fan of being in the nest for any length of time. They seek shade when they can. They also get active about dusk, and then settle in for the night.

I've tried to post this three times!!!

Due to vigilance, we found a snake in the wall of one of the coops. Changed and went to check on the birds. Found a hen stuck in the wall. Went to pull her out and grabbed a snake! He got several eggs and two chicks. He's dead now. Fifth one this year that we've found.
I got a visit from three raccoons the other night. One wounded, one took a dirt nap, and the other ran for the woods.

Incuview Update 8/7
Removed one egg leaking yesterday. It was rotten, that leaves 21 for the hatch.
Just came in at 5:45 two chicks hatched and I see another peeped. Nineteen to go.
