Yes, my daughter loves coming by your place. Kate. She is our resident chicken holder, and chases them back into their pen after they free range. My boy is the backbone of the operation as he collects the eggs, feeds the birds. Mama and I do the coop construction. She does the measuring, board holding, and anything that requires four sets of hands. We got a electric collar for Olivia. However, I think it is moot as she hasn't offered to jump the fence lately. I think she either forgot how, or finally developed an attachment. She likes to follow my daughter around the yard. My wife walks her daily. I think wherever she came from the women were nicer to her. She'll hang out with us guys, but is more drawn to the ladies.

I haven't ran into my neighbor lately, even though I had the day off. Usually, he is curious about whatever I am constructing. We are mostly done with the next coop for the Chocolate/Mottled Orpington girls that need to live outside. That will give us 9 hens to two roos. Then, I can cull the less attractive son of Lucky that when Lucky is free ranging runs up to his coop and tells him off. His other son, that resembles him in an EE comb, lives with him and minds his manners. His daddy crows, but his son doesn't dare. Once, his PBR looking son is culled, I will be able to move my Splash/Blue Americaunas into that pen, and leave the BCM's in their own pen. I will bring Blue or Splash hen over to the BCM pen when I want to make an Olive Egger.

The PBR's. EE's, and Buff Orpingtons all live in the egg eating pen with his son. And, would you believe Lucky still has a thing for Buff Orpingtons? When he jumps onto of the Little Giant galvanized feeders he always has a Buff Orpington hen with him.

Somehow I'm not surprised! Ginger and her ladies were his loves! I'm glad Olivia is finally settling in. She just needed time. I think she was still in the abandoned stage when you got her. She's such a good dog, her brother was a brat. He is living in town as a city dog for some college girl now. Good for Jack.

Lucky's oldest son is in Jacksonville producing his first set of grand chicks. The lady is absolutely in love with him as well. His son has more Orpington characteristics, but, Lucky left his size and muffs with him. I think they call him Ducky.

The potbellies found a weak spot in their pen and almost ended up as food for the older pigs. Eek. John spent the evening patching fence. Always something around here!

The breeder pen for the hogs is almost done. They'll be living on top of the hill... Hopefully they stay there! The boar will be separated by an alleyway and some special hot wire. Made for buffalo and elk.

Its working well on the wild feeder hogs so I hope he stays put once we get him moved here from the breeders.

Hope everyone else is having a good week so far!

does anyone have any leads for a LGD breeder or pups for sale in the south Texas area?

prefer Great Pyr, or Great Pyr/Ant cross.

No. But Bluebonnet Animal Rescue has LGDs and they do long distance adoptions, some as far away as East/West coast. They have a ranch here in North TX and they work with their rescue dogs to see how well they do with different types of livestock, including chickens. They get all ages of LGDs brought in to them, some that need training to guard, others that already know how to work as LGDs. I've been watching them and chatting online for a couple of years now and when we are looking to get an LGD, that is where I'm going to go. They get a lot of Pyrs but they also get Pyr-crosses and sometimes other breeds. http://www.bluebonnetanimalrescue.org/ , https://www.facebook.com/BluebonnetRescue

Did anyone else lose power today? It made it a pain to work on the coop today. It is kind of hard to grind hardware cloth lengths when all your tools are power and not battery based. Worked on it until we lost the light. The door is now hardware clothed. Tomorrow hopefully hinges and bolt.

Chicken math strikes again. Awaiting 15 more BCM female chicks to add to the eventual breeding pool, and 4 more Blue Americaunas, 3 Buff Orpingtons, and 3 more EE's. I have three more EE's that are about POL. It has been tough keeping up with the egg demand. Everyone I know wants a dozen eating eggs all the time. So, Lucky's pen has been in over drive.
