Hi, I'm from Buda just south of Austin. I have 24 hens ( 5 different breeds) and one rooster. They are all 6-7 mo old. We grow veg. On our organic farm. I began putting up a few signs for veg. And eggs for sale. Oh my!! I have more customers than I have eggs. Would like to increase my flock and egg production but not sure how the best way to do it. Don't know indivual to by from. Can anyone help?

Have you ever been to Callahan's in South East Austin on 183? They sell chickens.

Hello, I'm just NE of you. What breeds do you have? I don't have anything for sale but I'm incubating Lavender and Jubilee Orpingtons

Callahan's is great. Ask for Amy, she can sex them for you so you know what you are getting. Good luck finding some good stock.

hi Allan, I'm in Buda and want to increase my flock. Do you know where I can buy some pullets? Would really appreciate any information.

Any FBCM owners have hens that have completely turned off laying? I bought a hen and roo about 2 1/2 months ago and not a single egg yet. The hen is PLENTY old enough to lay. I'm wondering if I need to return her to who I bought her from. Ideas please?

Stress such as moving to a new environment can cause a stop in laying. It is also molting time for many chickens. Hours of sunlight is also decreasing. Any one of those or all three of those together could be causing the problem. Parasites could also be causing a dearth of eggs, I would check for lice, mites, worms, etc.
