For those of you who are aware of the fires that came through my area last night, we survived unscathed. Never made it to us. Several friends had to evacuate and leave their homes. One of my regular customers lost everything. Several people are without homes and more without power. Not sure of livestock totals yet. The fire was big, hot, and fast. 800+ acres burned in a matter of hours.

Prayers going out to those affected.

That is just scary. Glad to hear your place was spared.

This is the hen. Sunlight is making her feathers look grey in the pic but she is coal black.

She looks like she's molting. This is the time of year for that and they do quit laying until they're through. All of my hens that are over 1 year are molting now, only the ones that were born this year are laying. After molting, though, they may not start back much until spring since the shorter days tell their bodies to go into holding mode. You can short-circuit that with lights, but I feel that the break is good for their bodies.

Hopefully the rain will put an end to all of this.

Hey everyone!! Just letting y'all know I am still kickin'!! Been busier than a cat covering up a fart. I have made the decision to not build coops anymore, but will still build the run panels. Coops take too long, and all I do is make customers mad for that reason. I can usually do the panels in 1 weekend, depending on the size of the run. This time of year, I have alot to do on this property, and all I have are the weekends to do it.

Anyway, enough about me, how is everybody doing?? Hopefully y'all are doing good. I miss talking to y'all, so I will make this promise, I will check in at least every other night to see what is going on with y'all.

Anyone want to dance, I feel one coming on!!!!!!!
I hear you. My major work is always done on Sunday.

I only counted my breeders and not my growers then went back through the list. Sometimes I forget how many birds we have.

Although it didn't ask for Bantams or Guineas or quail. Strange.
