Thank you, jtn42248. I took a brief glance at info from Harper College. I would say ground beetle species carnivore. Do you think I am close?

Thank you so VERY MUCH for making that easy.

Yep. I think that is about as close as you will get. I let my dogs out a little while ago and there were dozens of them around my front porch. Guess tomorrow I will have to spray around a little bit to keep them out of the house.

New member here from Mabank, Texas.

I received a 10x10x6 dog kennel today that will serve as the chicken coop and run for the time being. I plan on fencing in a larger area to let the chickens out at some point during the day or when I'm there to watch and make sure everything is OK.

I have a few questions but not sure if i should post them here or in the the correct forum.....Here they are and if i should post the elsewhere, i'll do that too.

1. Should i leave the fence on the ground or get it off the ground and build a 12x12 platform for it to set on?
2. I was thinking about building a 4x10 or a 4x8 section inside the kennel for the roosts and the nests? If i do the 4x8 section, i'll put it on stilts but if i do the 4x10, i'll basically put up a wall and then organize it up somehow.
3. I'm thinking about building a frame around the whole inside, maybe run plywood all around the bottom 4' high. If i ran plywood all the way around, I wouldn't need the chicken wire around the bottom. I'd still add it on the ground around the kennel a couple feet or so.
4. My last question for the night. We currently buy eggs from a local free range egg lady that supposedly uses organic feed or whatever, my wife takes care of all that. She also says that she wont eat the eggs of our chickens unless they are allowed to roam around our yard and we use organic feed. So, wheres the best place to find organic feed, and what do some of yall use??

I have many more but I'm starting to feel this whiskey sour and i dont want to start typing gibberish so I'll say hello again to my fellow Texans and I look forward to being apart of this community!

Jtn42248,

I have a large flying black and yellow bug of some sort. Larger than a bumble bee. It is attracted to sunglasses. It is either guarding its territory, mating or both. It charges me. It is seasonal. Not sure if it can sting/bite me or not. Here are some worthless pics of it. I am working on my photography...and if I get a good pic of this thing, I am sending it to Nat Geo! (Right after I get you to help me identify it). Lol

Left side about 1/2 way up. Yellow dot. It's flying away. Makes loud buzzing noise. Almost like a defense mechinism. Will get better pics or go to link and find Harper college and look for it. Thank you for helping with the big black beetle.

:thumbsup
