Texas

Piney woods East TX - Today at 1:30 PM the photovoltaic security light turned on and the rain poured out -- but only 1/2" -- We are also due for rain every day from now to Sat. - Near Colmesneil they say that they got 12" in 24 hours last week.

frightening thing is that I was on that road in front of Lake Tejas about 15 minutes before it wshed out the first time -- or maybe even while it was beginning to wash.

Drought/flood -- level out of raining would be nice huh?

Keep safe out there everyone -- don't take any chances.

Prayers for all affected by the floods.
I got stuck in a low water crossing in my younger days and nothing but the grace of God got me through it. It was in the country, dirt road and NO signs of low water crossing. Definitely no road closure. Water on the road at night is difficult to gauge. Don't take chances. Turn around.

Wow! Things have been busy here! Sorry I have not chimed in, in a while. So, Welcome to all the new peeps and people joining byc!

Just wondering how everyone is doing with this crummy weather and what is the best way to dry out your open runs? We just had found out my neighbors septic was leaking into my coops and made him fix it (I didn't figure it out until after I had lost 30 some odd birds and one of them, my only cream legbar hen). I kept seeing wet but thought that maybe my new pvc autowaterer was leaking that much into the pens. Turns out it wasn't my waterer (hours of trying to track down leaks wasted). I didn't figure it out until I saw the sprayers come on and one of them was not spraying but a fountain that poured right into my coops at 10 at night. Moved all the remaining birds to my front yard and then the rains started! Just yuck!
Sorry to hear about your loss. I guess I'm dense -- but was it bacteria from the septic that killed the chickens? (it's a newer aerobic from what I understand that you wrote -- not the old-type tank in the ground with a big drain field.) Is it that dangerous to animals? Hope you never see anything like that again.

This is the first rain we have had here to speak of. But of course it came so fast that everything got flooded. But here ut was so dry hopefully it will soak up fast.

Lucky you. I haven't seen dry ground here since I can remember. We were supposed to get more last night and today but so far we have been lucky

Has anyone spoken with @Wendy High ? Haven't see her here in awhile and just hoping she's ok with all of this bad weather we've been having.
