I got a misting thing from amazon...hooked it up yesterday,. The girls have a new "spot" to cool off under the big pecan tree now. And the bantams got a box fan with misters attached to the front. They all seem happy.. I hope I don't lose any more birds.

I know of 5 laying hens that need to be rehomed.

Their "mom" can not afford to take care of them.

No swimming for me. I am still recuperating from bruised ribs. Your post made me laugh which made my ribs hurt which made me laugh again. Vicious circle!

Did you see the bruised marks on Michael Phelps' back and shoulder. I was surprised to see he went for the old Chinese medicine here ... using suction cups. I used to see that applied by vendor on streets, but never tried yet. Maybe I will try some days, when I got a chance to .. go for the gold.

Two weeks ago, I went out at 5:30 AM to take care of the chickens. It was Sunday and I wanted to get it done before I got ready for church. I opened the door and saw several chickens on the ground. I shined by flashlight up on the roost and there was a young possum on the 2nd rung of a 4-rung roost! I turned around and took off running for the house to get my gun. I tripped and fell hard on the ground. All the time I am thinking, 'No, I don't want the shotgun, I will blow the side of the coop out. I will get the .22". My poor husband was rudely awakened by me running into the bedroom. He follows me out and takes the gun from me. He gets the possum. All my chickens were fine. I was very lucky! That is the story behind my bruised ribs and I am sticking to it!
