Texas

O MY! You got lucky!
VIDEOS are awesome!! (even better than pics sometimes)
yes incredibly lucky on that second pass. I had some unknown to me type of hawks visiting overhead today was a duo and the one doing the distracting had me and the cocks looking at it, while anther brushed the roof line. I was impressed with their ingenuity while hunting.

Edit-Hawks identified as Harris Hawks and they do hunt in packs.

Game one is tonight.
I do not pay for cable tv so I won't be able to see the live game.
I pay for dish I tried spectrums thing but no DVR and I am forced to watch commercials all for the basic package price of 65.99(before fees and taxes and and and) I canceled after one evening and ordered dish for $55. Spectrum is more beholden to their shareholders than their customers.

I lived in Rhome for quite some time and sis is still in Bridgeport, so welcome to BYC! And the Texas thread please check out the articles section particularly the Coops as if you intend to keep them they will probably appreciate one. Let see Newark you have loads of predators to protect them from, Raccoons, Possums, Cougars,Coyotes, bobcats, also the red tailed hawks so make sure those chickens have plenty of places to bolt from the hawks during the day. Were I to move back to that neck of the woods I would ensure my chicken were locked up tight at night and for sure during dusk that is when the bobcats would scope out our property trying to get at my cat, but he had a big sis dog to keep him safe who was only 55 pounds but when she ran she sounded huge making the ground thunder that was enough to run bobcats off. Thankfully the dog was smart enough to not try and catch them. Additionally, we had idiots dumping animals on our private road quite frequently so plan on possible hungry strays.

Other than that the only other wildlife we encountered were skunks and armadillos and I am pretty sure chicken don't need to worry about those.

Have the Black Bears Made it to Wise county yet? I know Newark is in Tarrant County right at the county line on 287. Just thinking you might know.

Allen
No bears that I've heard of, at least in our part of the county. My half of Newark is actually Wise Co. but we're just a stones throw away from Tarrant.

New to Texas and in the Coastal Bend area, Ingleside to be precise. I am looking for someone in this area that can give me info on the best way to protect any girls I get. i.e. heat, humidity, insects... I had 5 beautiful Reds in Utah and just loved taking care of them. Pets that gave me butt nuggets...lol
EE's, leghorns and welsummers are great for hot climates
