Texas

Guys, be on the lookout for your fall predators. I walked into the coop yesterday morning and found this:

When I found her she was still alive.

Here is the predator:

Both have been disposed of by me.

Dirty little bastard did you play wack a mole with him

Possum is dead dead dead!

My flock has been traumatized. Between the possum killing the hen and me killing the possum in the coop, they do not want to go back in. Last night my husband and I had to herd them in. Today I didn't let them out of the pen. I am hoping to shovel out the old shavings and put down new tomorrow. Hopefully that will help.

I am fortunate my 10 year old cat has killed and brought me the treasures 3 juvenile possums, 2 full size rabbits and left them for dead in one of my sheds where I leave a window open for that punk. Nothing settles the stomach like a dead rotting rabbit corpse covered in maggots on the end of a shovel. My point is I am hoping that my cat has sent a clear message to possum mama that this property isn't a suitable home. Plus there is hardware cloth to take care of the rest. So sorry for your loss.
