One thing I have wanted to post forever into the Texas thread is my love of collecting antique wine openers. From 2010-2013 we went to the French markets to collect these things every weekend I had off and the markets were open. My favorite daily driver corckscrews are "Zig-Zags" post 1928 the one we use most is from 1951. I'll post a good photo upon request. The Ideal-Brevilles are nice too! German Monopols are awesome as well for the ball bearing mechanisms.

Someday, I hope to build a nice display case for these guys and get them propperly assessed for insurance reasons. Regardless, I have even made great finds with I-35 antique shops here in Texas in the dollar bins for corckscrews. Who doesn't love spending one dollar for a 50-100 dollar corckscrew?

My biggest regret is not buying a huge meat cleaver, but it did scare my wife and I thinking that having a blade that size inside the home from the late 1800's was just a bad idea. No clue what it was meant to cleave, just that it could cleave anything off of a human body. I'm sure it was meant for cattle.

This is how to spot the real ones: Check the back side for the year stamp(yes there are fakes, and they don't have the stamp). The front marks state that a patent was applied for. Anyhow, these pullers just accrodian out to remove corks. Same thing with an Ideal-Breville just they are more ungainly to operate, My parents do love their Breville though, and it travels with them when they RV.

Also does anyone understand this ballot initiative? I didn't think I was too stupid to vote but I'm just not understanding too much of this ballot why does this verbage need to be so obtuse? Prop #9 seems written for the Hunt family(WTF), I guess billionairs shouldn't have to pay taxes like normal folks?:

Reread Prop #4, very closely. Do you want a state income tax or not. This verbage is so deceptive. You have to vote for yes to vote for no state income tax at least that is my read of it.

I believe you are correct.
The local news was talking about this point last night.

I don't understand why they can't keep things simple and in elementary level English.

I just don't understand why I'm asked to vote on double speaky stuff. For me Prop #9 takes the cake. I do not care about a private party and their precious metal stores and the added value taxes they incurred. Those Hunt's accumulated 3.1M Metric tons of silver in the 80's, boohoo if their children have to pay tax on it.

So we did vote, there was an additional ballot measure(Cameron County specific). On whether or not they should be able to raise property taxes by an additional 2%/$100 for flood control which seems silly as we already pay taxes for this purpose to our drainage districts.

Todays elections seemed all about money and greed. At least we had to stand in line to vote, that is a rarity.
