Texas

@RebelChief Getting that 100% P/T unlocks so many VA and Texas(plus ease of mind) benefits I would chase it were I you. My wife even is entitled to a survivors pension should I pass. It took us years to get here when I left the service I was rated at 40%, but now my wife has CHAMPVA and educational benifits, they FINALLY recognize her service. I must have refiled my claim at least 5 times to get here. I do realize that both of you served and have so many of the same education benefits I have, however, please let your country pay you back for your service. The country incurred a debt by sending us over there(my opinion). I would just suggest visiting the Vet rep in Brownsville.

Thank you. I appreciate all the advice. I'm on board with that. We chose Texas becasue it was a vet friendly state. My decision is in but I haven't received the letter yet. The site hasn't updated yet .. still showing me at 50. Keeping my fingers crossed that it means that I got the 100 and they are dotting the i's and crossing the T's. We'll see.

I think I will file for SSDI they have a vet processing service center, plus when people ask for income verification I would be able to provide that as my income as that is taxable from what I hear. We ran into that today when shopping for a new psychiatrist in the civilian sector. I have had 5 Ambulance rides in 2.5 years due to VA's stupid policies and procedures defining what a doctor can and can't do. I sure as heck ain't providing my VA entitlements to them as income unless I want a new credit card or car. I prefer saying I have no verifiable income heck I haven't filed a return since 2014. I don't get any W-2's to file.

I am thinking about looking at the SSDI as well once I get through the VA process. One step at a time. :). My retirement check is taxable so I still have a W-2. Sorry you are having trouble with the VA, I know it can be very frustrating.

Well I am having significantly fewer problems with the VA now that the Mission Act went live this last August so I am now no longer dependent on them as my sole healtcare provider. It is a very complex Act and to check your eligibility for it will take you around 2-4 hours of internet sleuthing the VA website to find out if it is an option for you. If you did have a Veterans Choice card you are grandfathered into the program. They do have a authorized provider list on their website but if you are eligible you can get your meds on new prescriptions from Walgreens, Walmart, and HEB it just has to be an Express Scripts authorized provider and they can only fill 2 week prescriptions free of charge. I usually still just take my new prescriptions to the VA pharmacy though since I am in their system and do not want the hassle of someone new verifying my eligibility. I would only mess with that hassle if it was outside of their normal hours.

So my wife could not resist the urge to take a photo of me looking like one of the The Adams family or the Munsters(Thing or It) yesterday morning drying my hair in those strong winds. I forgot which show it was, you decide.

As you can see I finally lost my desire for the clean cut military look. She likes the pony tail look on me so I'm keeping it! I still haven't lost the you shave daily thing yet. I'm sure @RUNuts has some insight to offer, and I welcome your ridicule! When the hair gets longer I'll have the Fabio look(at least I did in my 20's) without the nice body and a little more grey. When it gets long enough I'm sure my wife won't be able to resist the urge to braid me up like Pippi Longstocking for giggles. I assure you though I won't be going out in public except for halloween looking like that.

Hello All,
I'm in Houston ,TX and I'm looking to purchase or adopt 1-2 female ducks. We recently lost our female and I have a lonely male at the moment that needs a friend or two. Everywhere I check only sells day old ducklings. I would like one old enough that I know it's a female. We believe our current duck is a Rouen but we open to most breeds... they are just backyard pets essentially. Thanks!
