@Kiki (& anyone else who might have an answer) I seem to recall that you did a thread on nutrition in different types/brands of feed. Did you evaluate Kalmbach Flock Maintainer feed?
I noticed Chewy has it and since we have dog food delivered I'm considering trying this.
I'd rather use a layer type feed...for my hen only flock.

I usually have chicks (broody hens) and of course, a rooster in my flock. I currently feed Purina All Flock. Naturally, Chewy doesn't carry that. My chickens are so picky that I'll probably have to stick to the usual. It is cheaper but not as convenient as delivery. They don't care if they inconvenience me. 😜

I don't think this is good enough for chicks...it's only 16% protein.
I think you are better off buying a grower type feed with oyster shell on the side.

@Aggiedusty yes sir I sure do. At the moment I have a fairly small flock of older buff orpingtons, however my new flock got in on Thursday 25 buff orpingtons and 25 brown sexlinks 5 transylvanian naked necks ( gonna eat them ugly critters) and I am brooding 40 production reds for my dad. I also plan to place an order for 200 cornish crosses about the first part of march

Hi, I'm actually from Washington but will be moving to TX Houston in a few months! I would really like to bring my flock with me though(15 chickens+6ducks) looked up the importation requirements and couldn't find anything on waterfowl and while I got an idea of what the chickens need Avian influenza, PT, and laryngitis free I don't have any idea were to contact to have them tested or the costs? Any of you bring backyard poultry into state before? Or know who I need to contact?

My word this is a smaller world every day.
I have family that just last year moved up to Anacortes! (Giggles)

As for your planned H-town migration.... My Better-half & I road-out [edit for those lost words] Hurricane Harvey in Galveston. I have some serious advice for you regarding areas to avoid like the plague! It's all about floodplane. Higher ground & as far from the refineries as possible too! They have rolled back a lot of safety protocols over the last few years here in Tx. 🤮

Janie... Have you checked the Amazon?

No, I'm afraid of getting old chicken feed from Amazon.
I'll just stick with tractor supply for now. I did find some white millet seed ($22 for 50lbs!) online that I can add to the Flock Raiser feed. Idk why I'm trying to change things, the birds like their feed as is. I'm just trying to up their nutrition.

What is your guys experience with rehoming 1 month old chicks that are likely boys on craiglists/livestock forums etc? I got a bantam chick just near 1 month and I don't know if it's best to put a listing up now or wait until he's feathered.
