Good to hear from you.I sincerely appreciate all the kind thoughts for Laure. It's been a week now, I'm still processing her sudden death. I am taking a longer break from writing, reading, thinking, and (over)analyzing about anything to do with chickens. Hopefully the desire to do so will come back at some point, I don't know.
In the meantime I did take pictures on sunday, the only sunny day after a week of gloomy (but much needed) rain, mostly spent at my parent's place.

I too am missing @ManueB and hope she returns to us soon. I had to laugh at the BBQ pork. I am sure she loves that!Hope all is well Manue! I miss you and your chickens.
Yesterday (March 29th) Light got her 2nd implant (8 month after her 1st). She's been going to nesting boxes but no eggs. She behaves completely fine otherwise.
She also enjoyed her 2 hour car ride each way. On the way back home, we stopped at her favorite restaurant and Light got her BBQ pork
I shall clarify that we did a drive through for the BBQ and ate in the car. We almost brought her to the outdoor dining.

Yes she really liked the pork. She however rejected brisket... She is another Princess.

I think it's the salt.
Mine love beef and are not fussy about cut. I confess I do sometimes buy stewing beef just for them and the cats.I just love how they've got expensive tastes having never even tried the offering before.
I take the field chickens all sorts of food. I take them a slice of supermarket roast beef from time to time. The other week I got given a 10 oz fillet steak bang on it's use by date. That's way too much meat for me. I woould usually get three meals out of that. I can cook a decent steak and I took a couple of ounces of the cooked steak to the field chickens. A riot almost broke out!
Same with cheese. Take a bit of that weak insipid stuff they sell at the supermakets very cheaply and sure, the chickens will eat it, but take them some local extra mature cheddar and they'll take your fingers off trying to get a bit.
Most of what I've taken them has been good quality food and they know the difference, right down to raspberries straight from one of the bushes on my plot and supermarket bought raspberries.
They love a bit of Kebab.

I will be taking a much longer break from keeping the thread and posting on BYC, if not forever. I'm trying to find the fun and spark back since Laure died just two months and a half after Piou-piou, and for now that means taking a step back, not thinking constantly about chickens, and spending the least time as possible scrolling the web.
I apologise to all of you who followed and posted on the thread, It feels a bit rude to disappear especially as I have been and remain so grateful for the help and knowledge I found on BYC. When I feel less like an emotional sponge I will try catching up some of your threads.
