I just want to thank everyone here that have giving me advice and support with my chickens
Having chickens has being by far the best experience of my life
Thanks to them I don't eat any kind of meat
I learned that they are just like cats and dogs when you give them a chance to live. It's fun just to watch them be chickens 😢 sadly i put my last hen to sleep yesterday and it was harder to say goodbye to her than the other ones I guess cause the vet at first told me she was going to be okay
But she never did... Any ways I'm done raising chickens
I learned so much from you guys, Thank you!!!!!

You are a very compassionate person. :hugs Why do you no longer want to have chicken pets???
All my chickens are pets also. They live long lives. My current senior hen is over 10 years old.
Consider adopting some rescue hens. Another option is fostering battery hens so their final days are spent in joy.. :highfive:
Your circumstances may be unique, and possibly cant care for more chickens at this time. :idunno

WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,:thumbsup

I am so sorry you lost your girl. I had to have one put to sleep last week, and it's always heartbreaking. Even worse, when you don't expect it; I knew my girl wasn't going to survive. Your girl was beautiful, and I'm sure you will miss her for a long time.

You sound like a great pet owner, and it's too bad -- for whatever reasons -- you won't have more chickens.

I believe that certain people and animals are in your life to teach you things you needed to know.

You learned that chickens can be more than "just" livestock. They can be honest-to-goodness pets, and that led you to not eating meat. I stopped eating meat when I realized there was scant difference between the amazing hen I had just spent $200 to save at the vet's and the boneless, skinless chicken breast I was going to buy at the grocery.

Best wishes for whatever comes next for you!

Marek's killed my little flock
That's why I can't have any more at least while I'm still in this house
Before you ask how do i know it was marek's
The first one who got sick was tested and it was marek's, the rest started showing symptoms months after and this last one was a year after.. She stared having trouble laying eggs then became paralyzed the vet said it was from the egg bound but she started getting some nasty scabs in her back I assume it was tumors then I had to make the decision to put her to sleep ... I just can't risk other birds to this nasty virus
