Ok I am in love with the rooster you gave me. He's a darling! He makes this soft purring sound when he's with the hens.

the coup was crowded and one of the broody hens was having a hissy at everything getting near her to the point she broke some eggs adn got a mess all over herself and the nest. she refused to leave the nest so i can clean her and it. so I gave up and waited until night fall. I then snuck her into the pen where I have those five Cochin chicks you gave me and snuck the chicks under her....


she woke up, and so did the chicks. they started running around carrying on. I was worried she would reject the chicks then but she walked around a in a circle a couple of times then laid down in the middle of the chick "house" and laid down all fluffed out. then every time one of those chicks ran by she would swoop/shove them under her with her neck and beak.

the chicks started peeping in terror and kept trying to get away form her and she kept ramming (gently mind you) them under her feathers...

this went on for a couple of minutes before the chicks decided that she was warm and comfy and they fell asleep under her.

it was so cute. I wish I had a video camera to tape that

then this morning she kept trying to gather the chicks around her as they ate and she was chasing them all around the pen. they would run to one corner and she would run over there and they would run away.

They seem to be use to her now and are gathering around her as she scratches up food.

Ironically she is the partridge cochin I thought I lost....

with those partridge cochin babies. hehe perfect little family

You didn't see this turkey. This thing is white, and HUGE. It's got razor sharp fangs and lazer beams for eyes. It had every guinea there gathered around it as it's evil minions. They were plotting their attack. I know they were.
