I LOVE fruitcake...the darker and heavier, the better. The recipe I use to make 4 each year (a good place to use 12 eggs!) is one I got from my sister's m-i-l many years ago. A good family friend of hers was a Catholic nun and made it every year when said mother-in-law was young. She gave me the recipe and I've made it every year since. My sister's m-i-l has been deceased for about 12 years and dear, old Sister Elizabeth has been gone for well over 25 years. *

* I am not sure how Sister Elizabeth would feel about my soaking the cakes in brandy after I make them, though.
