Howdy! We live in northern Quebec - latitude 48.9, so it gets quite cold up here but that's just the way we like it. We've always just had rust-coloured chickens and never more than seven because our set-up is small and we want the girls to be comfortable.
Chickens were a retirement project that I'm truly enjoying.
Enough about me. I'm off to the poultry injuries section because I've got a problem I need help with. Bye for now.

Welcome to BackYardChickens! So glad to have you here in our wonderful community of friendly, helpful, knowledgeable people!

@Northern Quebec - So glad to have you! :welcome

We'd love to know more about you, how you got into chicken keeping, and I am particularly curious about how weather impacts you and how you deal with the cold. Down here in Southern USA, we get extreme heat and humidity. It's so nice of you to consider the living arrangements of your hens in keeping them comfy and spaced out evenly. Hopefully you get quick responses to your injury concerns. Best wishes!
