Hello! What a beautiful flock you have! Nice to meet youI’ve had chickens now for about a year so pretty darn new yet. This site has been so valuable and I’ve utilized it a lot so far and it has answered many questions on this journey of being a chicken mama! Thank you for letting me lurk!
I started out with a flock of 8 australorps. 6 ended up being roosters so I added 5 barred rock hens and have learned how to process roos. I’ve hatched some eggs and lost chickens to eagles and now mink. I feel like I’ve gained a ton of experience in my short time owning chickens and hope to be able to answer the odd question as well as i’m starting to have some more specific ones.
Pics are of my new littles (mostly black australorps with a couple blues) as well of my fave bossy b, Ariel, whom I lost a few weeks ago to an eagle. She was so sassy and friendly.

I thought half inch came in stronger gauges I know theres a bunch of threads on here about 1/2 vs 1/4 Ive heard the 1/4 inch is not strong enough? personally my coops have 2 layers of 1/2 in HC on all windows (inside and outside with staples and then trim screwed in over the edges)Welcome to Backyard Chickens. This is a great place to explore and hang out.
