Hello, My name is Lisa and I live in VA.
I got my day old hatchlings the end of March 2018. I have 7 pullets - 3 are Partridge Rock's, 1 - Blue Andalusian, 1 - Sicilian Buttercup, 1 - Exchequer Leghorn, and 1 - Lavender Orpington.
I have really enjoyed raising them, I just enjoy seeing them be chickens. I let them free-range as much as I can but lately the hawks have been staying around - so they are confined more than I like. I really enjoy the fresh eggs and I cannot stand store bought ones anymore.
I was born and raised on a farm but we never really raised chickens. We had a few game hens and roosters that were given to us, but the flock eventually died off. I still live on that 100 acre farm. We rent the majority of it to a neighbor that raises beef cattle and makes hay. I have been raising Jack Russell Terriers for 30 years and I am heavily involved in showing and judging them all over the country.
I stumbled up on this site through google and it has been very helpful in the past so I decided to join so I can learn as much as I can. I do have an Associate's Degree in Animal Agriculture from VA Tech - Go Hokies!
