I think I got some slop-over from sourland's last broody dance. I've got FOUR broody hens suddenly. Two of them are trying to share the same large kitty litter nest box (the favorite of all the hens), one has taken over the segregation coop where many of the other hens like to lay, and one is STILL setting on eggs she may be eating..... at least there are fewer eggs than there were a couple weeks ago, she's been there over 3 weeks and nothing has hatched. One hen which had been broody and sharing that nest gave up after 3 weeks without any chicks appearing. Mystery. Angel, who hatched six chicks several weeks ago, is still raising them.

I, too, thank sourland. Although I do wish I knew what was happening with Shirley Welsummer's eggs....
