I love all the coop photos, and the chicken photos too! 'm always thinking of new coop designs, and always planning on the next coop to build. You've given me some good ideas!

I totally understand what you mean about comparing chickens to other pets, like dogs. I love my chickens most of all, and they are just as important to me as a dog might be to someone else. They each have their own special personality, and it is really fun to go out and play with them each day. Luckily, my 2 year old seems to have the chicken-bug like mommy--that's her in my avatar.

I grew up in a Maryland city, and I used to hatch and raise chickens. They had to go back to the farm once they reached a large size, and it was so sad! Also, I was the only person I knew who had chickens, so it was rather lonely!

Moving to NC, I have met so many people with chickens. It's almost the norm here, and I love it! Of course, nothing beats BYC. You all are great! I was a member of another forum--eggbid to be exact--but they were not so friendly. I've found the BYC crowd to be some of the most helpful, friendly people out there in cyberspace!

Ok, off to read more interesting chicken stories!
