lol! Well, it's rewarding. You wind up with a number of cute fuzzy fluff balls that grow up to be hens and roosters you may or may not know what to do with.

I caught my older October chicks sleeping in the goat feed bowl earlier. Why do I not have a camera in hand for moments like those?

lol.. they probly got into the bowl t o eat the food and passed out with a full tummy....
my chickens and the peacocks LOVE the sweetfeed we give the goats in the evenings.. lol...

so i put 12 eggs into lockdown.. 1 is probly no good.. and another is questionable...
i'm due fri... but the last batch hatched a day early.. i'm hoping they at least wait till thur evening...

Evonne, I need to take a pic for you of our mid-October chicks. I had a couple of mystery eggs in with those. Looks like I really am getting the Polish Cochin I speculated about--his crest is starting--but my "normal" standard sized black cochin has turned into a frizzled splash.

Something that you can make for dime, sell for a dollar, and is habit forming? I would jokingly suggest hatching eggs, but we know the truth of that.

3D Silkie Chickens complete with feeders, waterers, coop, roosts, nesting boxes, and run? Only, DAZ would think the silkies were toons. Kind of like the people who argue that the shark in JAWS looks fake. I argue that all sharks look fake.

I suddenly realize that I shouldn't have gotten leghorns to fill out the bator for Thanksgiving. I should have gotten Turkens. How could I be so blind?!?! Yeah, an on going holiday hatch thread might be good. I'll even take pics of Lint and cross post them. Poor little guy is still having to sleep in the critter keeper. I still don't trust the others not to crush him. The intermediate stage between cute fuzzball and feathered chicken is reminiscent of godzilla in more ways than one.

LOL My mom has the same idea - my Serama chickies like the fuzzy nests she crocheted for them so much she's doing a few more and wants me to see if anyone wants one on here. And please excuse me for crashing the Thanksgiving thread... I have nobody hatching.
